It actually does increase the PH, and tastes great!

I have purchased and installed many APEC RO water systems as everyone who come to my house tries my water and loves it. I then show them how easy it is to install one and many do. Prior to this system I owned their 90 GPD system without the PH add back feature. I suffer from chronic acid reflux, and found research that shows that regular RO (lower PH) water can actually trigger stomach acid production, so I switched to bottled alkaline water and found that sure enough, I saw an improvement. I was bummed that I was going to have to buy bottled water, and not just have it on tap in my house so I went in search of alkaline water at home and found this. Sure enough it is great, but I do have a few notes if you are replacing an older RO system with this one. Prior to installing this system my APEC RO water was reading at an alkalinity of around 5.5 as measured using a meter purchased here on amazon. After tinstalling the new system, it is currently reading at around 9.5, which is competitive with most "alkaline" bottled water. I am so happy with this. As far as install, this system uses a 1/4 inch apec line for output to the faucet, and in all other places where the other (at least the older) 90 GPD system uses a 3/8 inch line. This worries me a bit as I may not see the same strong flow-through I had with the other system. Perhaps more importantly, it means that install is a bit tricky if you want to leverage the old lines, particularly the line to the faucet and tank. You will likely need at least on 3/8 to 1/4 inch reducer fitting, two if you plan to use the old tank. I believe the "waste" line on the old system already used 1/4 inch so you should be fine there. One other note is that the seals on the inside of the filter containers seems to pinch easily compared to the old system. Double check that they are seated properly before screwing on the container, and be careful not to over-tighten. Ultimately I am very pleased as everything comes with the quality I expect from APEC and I am very happy.

Overall - so far - seams to be a good filter

First, let me compliment APEC for manual actually written in comprehensible English rather than Chinese using English alphabet as it usually is the case! Another nice touch: the water supply adapters fit my setup perfectly, did not need to run to a hardware store. Why four stars? One o'ring for the water supply fitting was missing. Fortunately, I have an assortment of AC o'rings I always have on hand. The pressure tank valve was leaking, had to add an o'ring (wasn't originally there) AND apply teflon tape just in case. No other issues. After installation, checked water quality, was disappointed - it's 134 PPM vs 104 PPM without filter. Am attributing this to the fact that the filters are not yet full/soaked and, therefore, the system is not fully functional. If that doesn't change to the better, will update the review and adjust score accordingly. Update: after one day, PPM dropped to 13.

Best Instruction Manual Ever

~1-year update So I changed out my filters. I hesitated to buy this product because our town's water quality reports always had great numbers. Still... worried about PFAs and such, I went ahead. Well look what I found! The picture with the filter in the housing is the sediment filter after a year of use. The next picture compares the old sediment filter with the new one. The three filter picture shows you the three filters I replaced. Water hits them from right to left. You can see that by the time the water gets to the third filter, it's in good shape because that third filter is still pretty white. The bottom line is that, even with good water, there's plenty of muck to filter out before you drink. ============================================= So I just installed this system and it's too early to give you any information on how it performs over time, but what I can say without hesitation is that the instruction manual is the best such manual I have ever read and used in 30 years of DIY homeownership. I've done all sorts of things. I pull my own permits, I've installed appliances, done framing, bought tons of tools, and more. It's been a non-stop passion of mine for decades. After all of that, this is really, honestly, the best manual I've ever read. Well-indexed, plain language, plenty of useful diagrams, written for somebody with no experience and handy for somebody with lots. This is no small thing. If you're wondering whether or not you can handle this, rest assured that you'll have plenty of guidance. Just set aside plenty of time, take your time, and do what the manual says to do, step-by-step, without skipping anything or jumping ahead. The equipment itself seems top-notch and all things were supplied and worked as they should have. Be careful unpacking as there are some small parts that could get away from you. I installed my system in my basement, just below the sink in the kitchen on my first floor. It would have been handy to have an extra couple of feet of tubing for that, but I had enough. I also installed a water pressure meter on the feed line. There are plenty of inexpensive tubing accessories that you can get. I got a variety pack and added a couple of elbows and what not to get a cleaner installation. So my hat's off to this company. I got an expensive system, but feel it was money well spent.

Update 2022 Maybe look elsewhere, trying to get Abby kind of support from these folks is impossible. No phone, email or anything will get an answer. -------------- One of the few systems were every important component was not made in china. The tank is made in Taiwan; had to fill and empty 3 times to get rid of a cloudiness to the water. I ended up gently shaking the tank when full and that worked perfect. Most likely just residue from the automated welding. The quick connect plugs work well and don't leak. You can even disconnect them as easy; just hold the tab down and pull the hose. Just be sure to have nice clean square cuts on your hoses (they dont ship that way). Unit assembly entails inserting filters into holders and twisting them into place. Installation is straight forward, but a few tips: - Once you have everything connected, but before you turn on the water. ---- Turn off the tank tap; first fill the system with water and work the air out. ---- You can help by lifting either end of the filter unit to move the air bubbles along. - After you have gotten all the air out; proceed to flush the tank as many times as required. ---- It does indeed take a few hours to fill. - Does not need to be mounted, can stand on its own. One note, its nice that it doesn't require electricity. But keep in mind this is not for low water pressure homes (you need a boost pump). I will most likely add a UV filter unit at some point; so I will need to find power then. Water tastes fine, no grittiness or anything. Specifications from the manual are attached. -- I wanted to add that this is a better/higher model when compared to the usually more expensive ULTIMATE RO-90 (this being ULTIMATE RO-PH90).

Sistema Genial

Es un sistema super padre, fácil de instalar aún cuando tuve que perforar granito, pero eso es otra cosa, las instrucciones son sencillas, considerar colocar muy bien el teflón en las terminaciones de metal y contar con la herramienta necesaria, el tiempo de llenado fue poco más de una hora ya que cuento con bomba de presión para todo el sistema hidráulico. Consideren tener buena presión o instalar una bomba con el sistema. No tiene sabor y no tiene acidez.

Muy buen equipo

Las instrucciones de instalación, muy claras y acorde al producto. La calidad de todo lo incluido en el kit impresionante. Hasta ahora todo muy bien, pero cometí el error de no comprar el kit que viene con la bomba incluida y ha sido un poco complicado lograr la presión requerida para el correcto funcionamiento.
