Meh, not really weedless. Glorified spoon lure

I was hoping for something like a scum frog or bass stopper that was completely weedless. I wanted something you could throw in the weeds and lilly pads and not get snagged. I tried bending the little bar so that it's further out, but it doesn't really prevent weeds from snagging on the hook. I had seen this on the list of top 50 lures of all time, which is why I bought it. It's fine, but I'm not super impressed. It seems basically like a spoon with a different hook setup. I bought the medium-sized one and it still seems too big. I returned the large one because it was so big it seemed like it was designed for catching tarpon or marlin.

Great product but didn't give option to select the size. I can't use the big one. They need to change their ad or marketing strategy.

A review to help clarify what you get since there is a no return policy...

The first photo is how they show the item, the second photo should be another view they show, but they don't. The hook is huge. The description says it's 2-3/4", however the total length is more like 3-1/2". I tried to return the item because it's way too big for what I need and that wasn't clear in the description, but they have a no return policy. I would have liked to have tried a smaller size, but I'm stuck with this now.

Good lure

Lure was received promptly and in good condition, and matched the seller's description. It is solidly constructed, casts well, swims with good action and is very shiny. I have tried it out in the CT river in the Hartford area and the weedless feature works for me. I haven't caught fish with it yet, but no one else was catching any the few times I tried it out.

Gold is the answer

I have used the Johnson spoon for years. Keep several in your tackle box from 1/8 oz to 1/4 oz. Use in pads for bass. Reel the spoon as slowly as possible across the pads and hang on. Go quickly to your fish or they will pull loose in the pads. Don't use an imitation. The Johnson Spoon is superior to the copies.

Best spoons you can buy. I normally purchase these in Walmart when on holiday in the USA and they are deadly in the sea from boat and shore. Tried them from the rocks in weed for mackerel, pollack etc and they are brilliant without worrying about snags in the weed, highly recommend them. My only complaint is you can't buy these Johnston spoons over the counter in the UK, dealers are missing out with this spoon, the gold is best and catches more.

total garbage .... hook is zero sharp ,crooked line tie ,bad welding ,and awful coating , save your money
