Fit my Kia Niro perfectly

Trailer wiring kit fit my Kia Niro perfectly. I worked slowly, took me about 2hrs to install.

Good fit but takes longer for a non-professional

There is wire cutting, but not to connect the taillights. The taillight connections are plug and play, very convenient. Wire length to both taillights was good. I found an installation video for a competitive product which helped alot. Plus, if you have installed the Curt hitch (or you can find the hitch video) you already know how to drop the exhaust enough to give big hands some room to route the wire underneath the car. Put the wire underneath! How to work underneath? Back the car up on 2-3 thicknesses of 2x4, or if you have those old car ramps, back it up on those. After you route the wire above the heat shield and axle, run it in the cover under the driver's side bottom of the car. Now drive the left wheels on those 2x4's, not much clearance needed. There are 3 nuts on the driver's side edge to open it up. The the wire goes up towards the battery. Take the pine needles out from under the hood while you got the hood open!

NOT as advertised...

"No cutting." That's a lie. "No splicing" Also a lie. You can see from the parts pic that you have to splice the fuse housing. The instructions reference a technical sheet that isn't included. The videos online... Gosh them fellas are lucky. I would cut my left bolt off to have a car lift available to me for every project. Overall, Curt makes a solid and quality product. Once I figured out I was on my own it went much faster. Their instructions and advertising are more than lacking. I wish I could buy the same quality with better service.

Watch the install video

There is an install video for the competitor's model. Watch it. Install is almost exactly the same and very helpful. Get plastic car panel spudger tools (or a sturdy plastic spatula and don't tell your SO) to pop the interior body panels. Be careful removing the interior body panel retainer pins. They like to break. Install for a novice is double the time if you are being careful. You will need to jack and properly support the car while you run the line to the battery. Pre-installed connectors work great.

Short grounding cable

I installed this on a Kia Niro PHEV and it worked well. The grounding cable and right side taillight cable were very short. I lengthened them by splicing in the extra wire which was provided. Other than that, it worked well though and I would recommend unless there was another brand with longer cabling.

Easy to install

This kit was easy to install but with one missing instruction. I had to call KIA to get the location of a 12V power source.
