Sudo scam

The sculpt looks like the design toscano version, but the finish is a very cheap textured gold not an antique brass and not design toscano quality. Annoyed to say the least.

Misleading but Okay if Indoors or Repainted

I bought this opener based on the four stars and the "Antique Brass" description. I needed an opener to mount outside on the deck and this seemed to fit the bill. Wrong. I proceeded to read the reviews only after placing the order and was surprised to learn that this was 'cast iron' cheaply painted. I live by salt water so this would opener would be a mess in a matter of days if I didn't pick up rust inhibiting paint as per reviewers advice. The piece arrived promptly. NO screws. I knew I'd need stainless anyway - but a letdown. The paint job was thin with none of the dark detail work you see pictured on Amazon. Really, if I hadn't already planned on repainting this thing I'd given it two stars at this point. I gave the piece a light sanding and it currently has two coats of Krylon rust inhibiting hammered bronze (i think a better color for a gargoyle). I'll give it one or two more coats before I mount it outside with ss screws. It will indeed look cool in hammered bronze and slightly menacing once mounted, and at that point perhaps worthy of a 4 or 5 star, but to get it there even 3 stars was on the generous side.

Nifty little things, just the right amount of whimsy.

I picked up a pair of these to mount on a porch cushion storage box. First - they do work. I've used fixed-position bottle openers that don't grab caps that well in the past. One would wonder about a single-purpose product that doesn't work, but they do exist. No concern with these - they open bottles just fine. The actual finish is a bit lighter in color than the picture depicts. That's not a bad thing, just a bit of information. And, they are not fully symmetrical. The horns curve slightly to the left, with the left horn a bit taller than the right. Again, not a bad thing, I like it, but it wasn't immediately obvious from first glance at the picture. They seem plenty robust, but until they go through a season of beer bottles, I cannot attest to their long term durability. But, nothing negative to report, and they do come with installation hardware.

Quirky and fun, but not perfect out of the box.

Works Well, Quirky, and Fun. I would have given it 5 stars but their were 2 flaws. 1) The color was different than photo. It came in a bright spray paint gold. This shouldn't be a deterrent if you have some sand paper. It looked great after a few good rubs. 2) The provided screws were too short. I was unable to securely mount this to my wall. A longer screw is needed if you want to make it through drywall to the beam behind. For me, this required a run to the hardware store since I only had suitable screws in silver. A minor annoyance since I had other items to purchase.

So, the gold paint that this comes with is ugly as sin. But, once I soaked it in some paint thinner for an hour or so, it came right off and I was left with a beautiful iron version. Mounted it on some hardwood I had lying around, and used it to cover up a hole in the kitchen left from an old phone jack. Looks great!

Great bottle opener

These are awesome, we have them all over the yard so no matter where you are, you can open your drink. Works like a charm.

Works for me

I'll start by saying it does not look exactly as pictured. The shape of the face is just different and it is a shinier gold than the antiqued look in the image, that's not a problem for me. I've had it outside about a week now and it's already rusted in spots but that adds to the character anyways, so no complaints on that either. It does the job and looks cool on my fence.

Very cool

An excellent addition to any home bar. The screws are a little small though, they support the opener perfectly well and open bottles without a problem but if you've connected it to a less than solid surface (say particle board or crappy pine) it might not hold on well if this isn't your first couple of times using it for the evening and you're a little over eager in getting the bottle open.
