4 years later - Caveats and ongoing maintenance
I installed this water heater in 2018. I had to change the entire electrical service (outside panel) on my 1956 house to accommodate the new load. I now have a 200 amp service. And yes, all the lights in the house flicker when someone is in the shower even with the upgraded service. I suppose I’ve grown accused to the flickering. In a weird way it serves as a monitoring device to know wether your kids are in the shower like they’re supposed to be (I’ve got 4 teenagers). It heats the water well, endless supply - no complaints there. However, the heating elements will come apart over time with use (constant heating and cooling of the metal). In a traditional water heater it’s more of a constant “on”. So with this tankless unit the outside copper breaks down and comes apart exposing all the internal bits - which is the heating wire all wrapped in a porcelain type material. This material breaks away in little chunks and floats to each and every faucet in your house and begins to clog each aerator screen. This builds up to where you lose water pressure which is annoying but it gets to the point where the flow is so restricted that your hot water (via flow valve) won’t turn on. And thus your hot water heater becomes its own worst enemy. You then go through your entire house and take every single faucet and shower head apart to clean out all the debris that looks like little rocks. Before you discover this you will spend many nights of poor water pressure and cold showers scratching your head and wondering about all of it. You will think your pipes are coming apart (but all the galvanized has been replaced with PEX), you will think the city supply is contaminated, you will think the main line into your house needs to be replaced, your will install a whole-house water filter. And none of it will help. Eventually you’ll cut the (newly installed) power to the heater and take the heating elements out to find they are so corroded and broken that you can hardly wrangle them out of the heater at all. After the shock and disbelief wear off, you’ll flush out the heater, order new elements and replace them, and clean all the debris out of your faucets again. And voila, nice hot water again. This is your new semi-annual to annual routine for the convenience of endless hot water. For real, I’m ordering my 4th heating element and I’ve had the water heater for 4 years now. (It’s mostly the 1st element that breaks down because they are activated sequentially based on how much hot water is needed. The 1st element comes on each and every time so it breaks down much faster) This whole experience was cut-and-paste for a friend that installed the same water heater. He called me for help after he couldn’t figure it out. He literally had a contractor in his front yard giving him a bid to tear out and replace his main water line when I got there. I broke it all down for him… cut to the end… he replaced the water heater with a traditional one because he had tenants and needed an immediate fix. But hey… endless hot water. Or something.

Don't expect it to function like a traditional tank.
After extensive research we chose this unit and the largest they offer because of our house hold size and usage. So far so good it has been running three years strong now and we still love it. We have a family of 5 and and I don't have much in the way of complaints. It still has its limitations... You can't run the dishwasher, the shower, the sink, etc all at once much like a traditional tank. However, once the teenager is done with his 6 hour shower am not waiting to a traditional tank to fill and heat back up. My tub is about a bagillion gallons and it stays hot the whole time while filling. After 3 years it seems the savings is negligible on the electric cost but the over all benefit of never ending hot water is worth it. We did the install ourselves but truly.. not for the faint of heart. My husband and I have loads of experience in stuff like this. The 36KW requires 4- 40amp breakers. That's 4 breakers with double switches so you need to make sure that you have at least 8 open slots in your breaker box otherwise you'll have to upgrade. Also, keep in mind you need to upgrade all your faucets to Low Flow if you haven't already. Make sure you hook the cold in and hot out up correctly, it's labeled on the bottom of the box. Check, then check again and a third time otherwise you wont get any hot water if it's backwards. (Might have done this and took a little troubleshooting to figure out what was wrong. Thought it was the unit at first) When the unit cuts on it's silent. I totally expected something... I don't know what but, I was surprised it was silent. Also, it makes the lights flicker ever so slightly. Rightly so too, it is sucking a ton of power when it's on. Note that I have 200 amp service and it only makes my NON LED lights flicker. We only have a few regular bulbs left, we've just been replacing them as they burn out. I read other reviews that showed that you need to set it higher then a normal tank. It's true.I like my showers at about 110 degrees (which is way hotter then most people) and I had to crank the unit all the way to the max 140 degrees to get about 112 at the furthest shower. My old tank was set at like 135. But, keep in mind we also have copper pipe and the shower is about 50-60 feet away from the unit so we loose a good bit from the unit to the tap. I expect once we upgrade the pipes and insulate it'll help.- turns out it's true. The PVC pipes loose less heat. Our sinks that are still hooked to copper take longer to heat. Overall after you work out the kinks to get it functioning the way you like it, it is AMAZING to have hot water after my teenage son showers. He is in there forever and he would always run the old tank dry which meant the rest of us had to wait. Seriously, with 5 of us all fighting for evening showers/baths and a million loads of laundry and dishes and everything else you really can't go wrong with endless hot water. No more waiting for the old tank to heat up!

Many nuances as opposed to tank water heater
Check your pressure, too high or too low you will get error codes. However, if you can get the sweet spot then you are good. Also look at electrical requirements for the unit you are considering. Some may require a whole new wire to be run. If your box is full, you cant accommodate the load. And even the smaller one will require dedicated breakers, but not dedicated wire to box. We were not willing to do a sub panel for this so it may not be for everyone. We have installed first gen (not this brand) in our RV, and had no problems. Really research and consider requirements. Customer service is good, not great but they do attempt to help and walk thru to consider issues.

Good product
Got the unit but it was missing the knob to adjust the temperature. If there is any way I could get one the would be fantastic! Thank you!

Excellent value
Superb water heater, I installed this heater 2 month ago and it works like a charm heats up very fast, and energy bill dropped for then 3 times, I used to have oil water tank heater and it was only enough for couple showers and after I had to wait until water heats up, I highly recommend it to everyone.

Buen proveedor y producto
