Not good for tiny dogs

Really good gate for bigger dog; however, my 3 lb Yorkie can squeeze through the bars. I couldn’t tell on the description the spacing between the bars. Great walk-through gate though.

This is the BEST invention I own... Or one of them, at least! I think this is one of the top 5, or top 3 items I have ever bought off of amazon! I found that I was having a very hard time sleeping with my cat in my room, so I started to shut my door at night. Then, I started to shut it in the day when the dog was out of her crate when I wasn't home as she will take all the sheets off the bed... so I bought a cheap wood gate as I was forgetting to close the door occasionally and I was liking the no cat in the room ever thing as I now had a litter and dingleberry free bed (she is 12). I was doing the walk over thing, tripping and wiping out every 10th time. Knowing I was having back surgery, I knew I needed a gate that I could walk through. I found this one. It was delivered AFTER my surgery! I had the UPS man set it in the house "this side up". I panicked. I put it in the door by sliding it the 6 feet. I sat on a chair... cut the tape, it slid out.... it was assembled! All I had to do was screw in 4 nuts and then tighten them in the frame, use the paper guide to "gap" the lock opening.... the nuts on the bottom I actually was able to tighten down with my toes. It was THAT easy. I exerted NO energy and didn't exert myself a day after my major operation. I was so pleased! Now, over 5 months later, every time I open the gate, I admire how easy it was, and how much I love it! I have only run into it once, nailed my leg on its open corner once or twice, but I have NEVER taken a full spill into the door, dresser, floor, or anything else because I ate S%$# trying to step over it or it and the dog at the same time. The operation of the latch as an adult is smooth. My Aunt has a gate that no adult can open, but worse, it does not close with a push- you have to mess with it to line it up and latch it. It is a joke. I told her to get mine with a stair kit. It is a Cadillac compared to a Yugo. I want to get rid of all the real doors and just put one of these on most of the rooms in my house as they are so much easier! I may not have kids, but I can tell you that I have hit this gate full force with all of my might and it has not budged! I would trust my life to it! The only thing I would knock it for, but love it for if I were to add a kid to the mix, is that you step over the bottom bar or risk losing a toenail. It is how it stays tight, but it can make a grown woman cry for death in the middle of the night. It is a necessary ev

I did a lot of research before picking this gate!

Awesome gate! I can't say much negative about it. But when installing it be sure to follow the directions because it does hold formation only by pressure between the walls. I'm using the gate to keep my 7mth lab mix puppy confined to an area so I can watch him well potty training. It's exactly 30 1/8 inches high but could be moved up leaving a small space underneath if a dog get big enough to jump it, you would just have to step over the bottom bar. The doorway is 17 1/2 inches wide which is good for most people to get through. It also swings both ways easily. The door stays where you put it, it does not automatically swing back to a closed position, which I like when I'm constantly walking back and forth through it. I had to use the extension piece which looks like its part of the gate and not just an extension. My hallway measures 38 1/2 inches and the gate fits perfectly. The bottom half of my gate is against a basebord moulding and it sits just fine. It at min will prob fit 28 1/2 inches without the extension piece which slides off easily. This gate is very attractive looking with my home. I have a basic ivory colored walls and stone like tile. Iv actually had a few compliments on how it works well esp since the color is so blending with most paints and tiles. Their is a colored circle by the latch that is green when locked and red when un-locked so you know if the lock has catched inside the mechanism. I absolutely recommend this gate! I looked for months at many gates, reading all the reviews and this is the one I choose and I'm glad I did. UPDATE: 12/3/2014 The gate is still holding strong and Iv gotten compliments from every person that has seen it. It just flows with any decor and blends in with it's color. My puppy can't knock it down or jump over it. It can be put anywhere because it has 4 adjustable tension screws that hold it in place and I love it. Only thing Iv noticed is because it is held so well in place by the tension wedges that when you loosen it from the wall it has pulled soe paint off with it, I personally don't care because I don't plan on moving it much and I can just do some touch up paint. Also, the locking mechanism is easy for me with one hand and holds up well to abuse.
