Buy it Local, Hold it First
I ordered this because I had another Fletcher's Mill pin until an there was an accident involving an electric stove and some mild hallucinogenics. This was to be the replacement. It's fine, does rolling pin things. But it's not straight, if I roll it on the table there's a few spots that are concace enough to see light, gaps of over 1mm, almost 2 for part of it. And it tapers every so gently toward one end. I think the bearings are in straight but the pin tapers so it doesn't actually roll very well. It's a fine weapon for a cartoon grandma to keep birds and cats off the pies whilst cooling, but it's not worth the $40 that I was happy to pay based on previous experience. I couldn't say whether it's sloppy quality control or a counterfeit rolling pin, but I'm upset with the purchase. It's a fine rolling pin. It's not a great pin. It's not a $40 pin. If you've never used a Fletch Stick you'll probably love it. And Jeff Bezos payed an effective tax rate of less than 1% in 2020 as he added $100,000,000,000 to his portfolio in just 12 months. That's almost $200k for each and every homeless person in the United States, or a very big raise for the Amazon Rep trying to decide whether this review is inappropriate and should be taken down.

Beautiful, but rusts badly inside
This rolling pin is gorgeous - I love the hard maple and the red handles, the size, and the heft. Initially I loved the incredibly smooth rolling mechanism. However, in under a year I noticed the metal rod has begun to rust badly, and the rolling has become significantly less smooth and easy. A piece around the metal rod (the bearings, maybe?) seems to have become loose and slides out of the wood frequently as well (you can see this in one of my pictures). I have never submerged my pin in water - briefly hand washed only, under the faucet, and left out to dry before putting it away. I contacted the company and was told there isn’t a warrantee, and although I could send it back for repair, I would be responsible for the cost of the repair if they determined there isn’t a flaw in the product. They suggested dripping cooking oil into the rolling mechanism to oil the bearings. I did so, and it did make a difference in how easily it rolls, although it’s not back to the original state and obviously still rusty inside. I thought this rolling pin was going to last years, perhaps even be heirloom worthy - it seemed so well crafted! It’s such a shame the bearings and rod aren’t made of something that will withstand some moisture, which is inevitable for a tool used in the kitchen that will always require cleaning after use.

This is an awesome roller! Made in USA is why I bought, but quality is why I am impressed
Hard to do an in depth review for a product like a roller, but we have been very satisfied and happy with this roller. We tend to hunt out made in USA products on purpose, but beyond that - this roller is extreme quality. The wood and craftmanship were outstanding upon arrival, we have zero qualms of this thing breaking or being too fragile / cheap. It is sturdy and the color options were fantastic (especially the one we chose that gave a nice little "pop" of color for our kitchen). Can't rave enough about this purchase, don't hesitate to buy. It may seem to be a little bit more money than your average big box store roller, but believe me the quality difference is well worth any perceived difference in price. To be quite honest too, the price really isn't all that bad. Thank you for making an awesome product, Fletchers' Mill!

Perfect!
I roll out a lot of dough! I own a small business making biscuits and scones. This is an indispensable tool! It's heaft makes rolling out large quantities easier, and it is still maneuverable. I have the 16' and the 18' and I like them both!

Made rolling pie crust SO much easier!I've
I've been making pies for a long time, and my favorite pin - until now- was one which had no handles and was the same width from end to end. I had tried tapered pins but didn't like them as much. Decided to try the Fletchers'Mill rolling pin and was so glad to have it. It's a good weight, and the weight definitely worked in my favor. Made a cherry pie to try it out, and it rolled smoothly and effortlessly. I'm so happy with my purchase!

Wow, what a nice piece of wood-working!
My old rolling pin was worn, tired, and a little small for my hands. I looked at quite a few choices for a new model. Much of what I saw was comparable in quality to the one I was retiring. That's ok, but I wanted to buy a better quality model; I wanted a "lifetime" rolling pin, maybe even heirloom quality. And that's what I got with the Fletcher's Mill 12-inch model. It's larger in diameter and length than my old model, it is definitely heavier, and it really rolls wonderfully, thanks to the ball bearings that support the roller. If you think ball bearings are overkill, I'd urge you to think again. This rolling pin rolls so smoothly and evenly that it's a pleasure to roll out pie dough, cookie dough and scone mix. The rolling pin is also a wood-working piece of art. It's so beautifully finished that it's really a shame not to have it on display in the kitchen. Spend a few dollars for top-notch quality. You won't be sorry.

But very quickly I came to appreciate that this is possibly the best rolling pin you can buy
I've baked for over 25 years. I just ordered one of these. At first it seems a bit heavy compared to what I am used to. But very quickly I came to appreciate that this is possibly the best rolling pin you can buy. It works beautifully. The steel bearings make a little more noise than the silence of other pins but one comes to appreciate that this pin will roll with ease and last you a life time. I roll out pastry in 3.5 x 3.5 foot sheets and this pin increases my efficiency in doing so. Also the rock maple its made from is like rock! It's incredibly hard and screams "quality." I'm Canadian and yet I know how some Americans are when they take pride in striving to make something the best it can be. This pin made in Maine is no doubt made by just such people. This pin is worth every cent and comes with a lifetime guarantee which I very much doubt you will ever have to make use of.

Made in the USA
We loved our Fletchers Mill Salt and Pepper Shaker, so when we broke our rolling pin, we had to purchase one from them. This rolling pin is sturdy and works well. I do not imagine it will ever break, and it could probably take out an intruder as well.

Lovely rolling pin!
This rolling pin is a very manageable size for a home kitchen... nicely fits in the drawer for misc. baking tools. The wood is smooth and barrel rolls freely. It feels good in the hands, and allows a gentle feel for rolling out pastry... Highly recommended!
