Decent Recessed Lights for a Decent Price

Building a home, I am new to the recessed lighting game. As such I have many things I could gripe about. Including these lights. But, for the money these are not bad. By using the LED Bulbs, they are IC certified, I am not concerned about insulation around these. And the LEDs just make sense for so many reasons. Please note tho that these lights by themselves are not suitable for new construction (like in the new home). I had to add the recommended New Construction Kits to mount 8 or so between 16 inch spaced ceiling joists down two hallways. (Those kits will get a 3.5 rating, they needed firming up with some add'l support. Wire twists, etc. to ensure they stay in place before the sheet rock goes up.) One thing a friend suggested for recessed lights, and I am so glad he did. Before closing anything up, wire up the lights and (according to electrical code) build a test circuit with your planned dimmer or on/off switch to test them out. There are 3 things you need to verify; 1. All the lights and switches work together. 2. The lighting color is what you (and your spouse etc.?) want. 3. The placement of each light gives you the right focus when adjusting the gimbal (angle) direction of the light. (I asked the wife to sign off on each one as she is a photographer and requested these in our hallway. Once the sheet rock is up, moving these around involves demo work. Test the lights, the dimmer, the light color, dimmer calibration etc.

Great light fixture, works perfectly with Hue

I wanted to set up recessed lights around the perimeter of my room to use with Philips Hue GU10 style lights, and to set up with the sync box for room lighting effects. These fixtures were very easy to install, I was able to use a hole saw (I believe 3") to cut the holes out, which I think saved on a lot of dust and heartache when it came to nailing the placement. I saw complaints about the box being too small- I did not get this impression. I was able to easily fit 1x 12-2 Romex and 1x 14-2 Romex into 2 of the boxes, the rest I made up with 2x 14-2 and never had issues getting everything tucked into place. You could probably do 2x 12-2 as well, but for how little power these draw, I don't think the added expense of the wire makes any sense unless you had something higher powered farther along this electrical branch. I can also confirm they work great with the new style Philips Hue GU10 bulbs. For the money, it's a really high-end look and I like the results far better than the 6 inch cans I've been installing elsewhere in my house.

For bulbs read what the discription states

I found these light to be exactly as described and perfect for what I need. For those of you that gave these a 1-star rating because they didn't include bulbs you actually need to read where it clearly states the following: "BULB REQUIREMENTS: 4x 50W Halogen, or 7W LED, GU10 Bi-Pin Base MR16 Shape Bulbs (sold separately) " See where it states (sold separately)?

Really like these lites. Lites up darker corners and sets a nice warm atmosphere.

Accent lights perimeter of rooms. 1) Drill and 3” hole saw worked great. Locate ceiling joist to avoid hitting with hole saw. 2) run wiring from hole to hole and to light switch. 3) Wire lites (Daisy Chain)simple 3 wire connection. 4) Snap fixture into hole as illustrated in directions. 5) Power on and enjoy.

Works great!

It's a good replacement for halogen lights because it's cool, while halogen bulbs emit a lot of heat. It's also dimmable.

These lights are easy to install

I bought these 3" ceiling mount LED lights to mount above our sink in our new kitchen. They are mounted into a portion of the cherry wood crown molding, so I bought them with the oil rubbed bronze color so they would match the cherry wood stain.....they match perfectly. These lights are easy to install, and are very serviceable. You only need to pull on the rim to remove only the part of the assembly where you can insert a new LED light bulb. I have my units connected to a Leviton dimmer on the wall and they work perfectly, dim very nice, and look sharp.
