Comfortable, well-made harness. No neck size adjustment however.

The media could not be loaded. This is a review of the Choke Free Freedom Mesh Harness. I've been dog sitting for a neighbor and they use this harness for their dog. It's somewhat similar to the Easy Walk harness that I use on my larger Standard Poodle. The main difference is that this has padded mesh going around the neck rather than the plain nylon straps that the Easy Walk uses. The result is a more comfortable fit for the smaller dog. I have to admit I was a bit baffled how to put this on the dog at first, so I made a video once I figured it out to help others who may be as harness challenged as I was. I like the harness. It's very comfortable for the dog and is pretty easy to put on. The "tricky" part is getting the left leg through. It's well made and although I don't know exactly how long this harness has been in service since it's not my dog, I do know it's at least a year old and gets used 2 to 3 times a day. So I'd say that's a pretty good track record for this. Something you need to know though is that the neck opening does not adjust. So if you buy an appropriate size for your still growing dog, the dog will likely outgrow the harness since there is no adjustment on the mesh opening.

Inconvenient for dogs who wear clothes

First, I'd like to say that this very good quality. I ordered the purple and the color is exactly as pictured...also ordered the leash from the same seller and they match perfectly. My Cavalier King Charles weighs 4.8 lbs and the XS was too tight. I returned it & ordered the small which fit but the area closest to her neck is a little loose...still works fine. Now for the down side. If you like to dress up your little one, where the hook for the leash lies is too far back that if you put a dress on your dog, the leash takes it off, exposing half her body sooooooo the outfit that comes with the hole to stick your leash through will NOT line up. I see this harness only working with clothes if you put it on OVER the clothes...probably wouldn't order the next size up as she grows because of the placement of the hook. Other than that, great quality and beautiful color.

Good Fit

Like this harness for my Shih Tzu. He loves to chew on his harnesses and is an escape artist while walking but he isn’t able to do that with this one because the fit is much better than other brands. My one complaint is that the strap at the back slips and tends to roll even though it is plenty big. We returned the Xtra small and purchased a small. This is our third purchase so you know we like them, just wish they would stablelize that strap. They could make it a little wider and stitch it across where it meets at the lead ring. But otherwise it is very good and our little Escape Artist can’t escape while walking! (He pouts when we take off his ”clothes”!)

Wonderful harness for my 5-1/2 lb. Chihuahua / Well made & comfortable fit

Just received this harness. Put it on my little dog, adjusted the side straps a bit and it is a perfect fit. The quality is very nice. I just hope the mesh fabric doesn't start to rip away from the suede trim as some other reviewers have mentioned. Perhaps the ripping issue is with "stronger" and bigger dogs who really pull at the leash. Time will tell. As a friendly warning to others, I will mention that I bought a Gooby padded vest on Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0142Q1NQW/ref=twister_B00DCPXJ2Q?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1) that fits my dog perfectly but it's an X-Small. This harness is a Small. So, I definitely suggest you pay attention to the sizing chart for each Gooby product and not assume that the size you may have ordered for another Gooby item will be sized the same as another item. I am VERY pleased with the 2 Gooby items I've purchased so far and would have no hesitations to order something else from them in the future.

Medium fits my 11 pound chihuahua well. Does not choke her.

My chihuahua has a 11.5 inch neck and a girth of about 16.5 inches. She has a muscular chest and is about 12.5 inches long. Looking at other pictures of small dogs wearing the harness I was not sure if her shoulders were too small for the medium, but she does not like tight things put over her head, so I decided to go with the medium. It is the perfect fit for her. She really likes that the neck opening is larger to go over her head easily. She is not a puller and walks very easily with the harness on her. The material is soft and the brown color is a very pleasant medium brown. Hope it does not stretch.

I love these harnesses

I love these harnesses. Its soft, light weight and it almost molds to the body. I can see the discomfort in my dog when she has to wear her nylon harnesses compared to this one. The only downfall with this harness is that it does get worn out quicker compared to the nylon harnesses. The leather straps over time will stretch and become thinner. And this process is sped up when it gets wet. I usually buy a new one on average every 6 months, but she wears it every time we take her out (except when she is going to be doing wet activities, then she wears the nylon harness). It may be pricy to have to keep buying this often, but I can see that my dog is a lot more happier wearing this over other harnesses I’ve tried on her.

This harness is perfect for my 7

This harness is perfect for my 7.5 lb. chihuahua. She has worn more than 7 other types and this one beats them all by a long shot! No more coughing or choking noises! The size medium fits perfectly when adjusted all the way up tight (doing this doubles the softness around her chest). I prefer the D ring in the back for safety reasons. When I need to pull her up quickly into my arms (from an aggressive dog or an occasional coyote) she does not slip out at the neck or hang upside down but rather she hangs from the harness around their chest behind the top of their arms rather than her neck. Please try this for yourself. I know if this action was painful she would scream her head off; she doesn't make a peep. I am now ordering one in purple. I always read reviews before I make a purchase.....finally I am writing one.

Great price, love the thick, sturdy lambskin strap!

Often times when you have a large chested dogs, your average 'stock' harnesses at the pet store fit very oddly - they have to go a size up to fit their chest but the neck won't fit as an example. I'd ordered what I think is last year's version of this which I do like, but found the strap would get stretched out and the strap with the D ring would slide around and pull to one side (as there is nothing to keep it in place). I really like the fit from this brand for my 19lb Pug/Boston Terrier (has BT body). If this is the newer version from last year, I love this upgrade with the straps - they are thicker, softer than the old one and sturdy lambskin! I found the strap on the old one - just your average strap was starting to get stretched out. What I love is that there is a separate strap for the D ring and separate attachment to the strap with the buckle so it always stays in the middle. I consider my dog small to medium, I think these fit quite small as my Bugg Casey is in a Large. Can't beat the price either at $20 - though you are limited to a few colours at that price but they were fine with me! I wasn't willing to spend an extra $25 for a different colour.

This fit my 6 pound Yorkie/poo like a glove

This fit my 6 pound Yorkie/poo like a glove. I had it on her in the daytime for convenience, and took it off at night for her comfort. After a week she chewed the side snap up while I wasn't watching. I cut off the chewed up snaps and hooked a small caribbeaner into the loop, then hooked it into the other loop. Works like a charm and she won't chew the metal caribbeaner any time soon (I hope)

COCO LOVES THIS HARNESS!!

Very comfy for our puppy - a little larger in neck than stated, but makes it easier to go over her head - fits well around chest area so is safe for her to wear. In the morning when it is time to put her harness on our pup nudges her head into the harness before I'm even ready. This is the 5th we've had while trying to get one that was a good fit for her - & this is by far her most favourite.

Dye leaks when wet

Ordered this because it says choke-free but my dog still chokes himself when he's barely even pulling. Not a huge deal, it can be worked around. But the biggest issue is that as soon as it got wet, the dye leaked onto my dogs fur, dying him blue. I've bathed him multiple times and it won't come out. Not impressed and will not be buying from this company again.

Fabulous harness for my Jack Russell. Soft, sturdy, easy to fit and the first harness I've been able to find with the ring situated at the end of the harness as opposed the the middle. That simple feature in the design makes all the difference with fit and placement.
