Good for trapping large bits of dust, but pay attention to the seller

The pre-filter in my Honeywell HPA-150 air purifier was clogged with dust and pet hair, so I ordered this HRF-B1 to replace it. Several reviewers have pointed out that when they purchased this product they received a knock-off or something that looked different from the picture. For those of you considering ordering this filter, pay close attention to the seller of the product. Some vendors "game" Amazon's system by undercutting the Amazon price and offering free shipping so that they appear in the seller list above the Amazon entry, and the top one becomes the default seller on the main product page. Take a look at the section directly below the price for the words "Ships from and sold by...". If it is not Amazon, then you may be buying the product from a different vendor. When I viewed the product page before ordering, I noticed that the default seller was not Amazon, so I clicked on New seller listing link below the summary (http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B0063KBJ7O/ref=dp_olp_new?ie=UTF8&condition=new), then scrolled down until I found the Amazon entry, then clicked the Add to Cart button next to it. This ensured that I would be ordering a filter sold by Amazon, rather than a different vendor. The price was a little higher than other vendors, but I knew that the filter would come from Amazon and would be the exact item shown on the page. I did this and the product I received was indeed the one shown in the picture and came in a Honeywell box in good condition. So if you're thinking about ordering this product, check to make sure that you're buying it from Amazon to guarantee that the product is OEM and comes in Honeywell packaging.

Lower quality and Thinner than they used to make them

I bought this to replace the filter that came with my new Honeywell Small tower. I also have the Tall tower system too which uses the same carbon filter. These are NOT the same quality that came with my old and new air filter system, they are much thinner and I have bought this kind for years! It is one long piece that is made for the tall tower filter but it says to cut it to fit the smaller size which is fine but I can't help but wonder if this thing will really work the way the old thicker kind did.
