Love the idea, not the execution.

I really wanted to love this clock! My husband and I collect clocks of every variety and sadly lost a clock to the fate of our feline friends just a few weeks ago. We have searched high and low for just the right fit for its lofty home on the mantle. We knew this would be just the perfect piece to tell the time when we couldn’t be bothered to pull our cell phones from our pockets. Alas, it was a huge disappointment when I opened the box to see a sham, a farce really! This clock isn’t even close to being the “charcoal” gray as portrayed in the photo and even spelled out in the description. If I was even willing to over look that, which I’m not because as you can see from the very poor lighting in my photos this clock is much closer to the liking of curb cement grey, that has seen better days of ADA yellow and blue underneath! As I was saying before I got side tracked by the hideous paint job, as I opened it to take it out of the package, chunks of who knows what fell out of the holes in the base. They seem to be metal of some sort, but don’t appear to be missing from this unit. Maybe from inside, oh well, that isn’t the worst part of its craftsmanship. The back of the timepiece can’t even be bothered to be put on straight. I am known to be a little bit of a perfectionist, but this is actually noticeable from the front, as in it hangs down below the bottom of the clock Like an afterthought. Now mind you, the box and it’s 3” thick styrofoam were in mint condition! This isn’t a matter of defect from shipping. Someone was actually convinced that this was a job well done! I once thought of Herman Miller clocks as quality, and their price seems to represent so, but apparently their craftsmanship no longer does! I hope this is a one-off and someone just had a bad day! We all have those! I know I do, but I don’t box it up and ship it off to display it in someone else’s home. I set it aside and try again tomorrow! I am sending this back for them to do the same.
