I replaced my old insinkerator 5 with this new insinkerator 5. I bought the same model because I don't have immediate access to the outlet that it's plugged into without busting down my cabinet (and I've had no complaints about the old one). This model requires you to connect the wires at the base of the disposal anyways so it worked out great (never needed to access the outlet, just switched the wires to the new disposal after turning off the breaker). All the pipe fittings and attachment points were exactly the same so it just took me about 20 minutes to replace. One thing to note, the bottom of the new insinkerator 5 was about 3 inches shorter than my old one. This was a welcomed change since the smaller size gave me more storage space underneath the sink.

So great, bought it again!
The apartment we bought had been a rental unit for about 10 years. The badger 5 that was here lasted 2 years after our purchase. We liked this model of Badger so much that we bought it again. The new one is more quiet and just as efficient at grinding up all sorts. Our under sink area is wide, but not high and this fits perfectly. Also, I recently noticed that the coffee shop down the street that also serves food has the same model! It's a winner! Note about installation: We had a professional install the unit. It was worth it. Read the installation instructions, though, because there is a piece that you need to pop out of the unit prior to installation if your dishwasher will be hooking up to it!!! So, even if you have a professional install it, you want to be sure they have popped out the piece before they install it. (They have to hit it hard with a screwdriver and hammer to get it out. It's not a simple hand removal.)

Good replacement
I almost paid someone to do it for me but I decided to tackle it and it was so much easier than I thought. I used the same upper bracket under the sink and flange and connected this. Just make sure you pop out the in inner plug if connecting a dishwasher hose. It works great, it’s quiet and powerful.

Easy enough to install. Don't forget to...
It took me less than a hour to remove the old, not working one and to install this new one. Be sure to punch out the inlet from dishwasher if you have a connection from the washer. I learned in hard way after finiding plenty of water on the bottom ofthe dishwasher. I checked the dispenser inlet for washer and it was blocked. Googled around and find out that the inlet has to be punched out. A hammer and a screwdriver did the job. The dishwasher is happy now.

This is what it advertises to be.
It works. Installation is simple if you've done it previously. If not, well, installation still is relatively easy. Just remember to knock out the plastic piece blocking the dishwasher drain if needed. I admit I couldn't retrieve the bitty piece of plastic, but that hasn't yet been an issue. BTW, if you see one price outside the insinkerator store, go to the store link, click on the same thing, and go back and reload. Saved $5 and avoided Amazon predatory pricing...

Easy installation.
Very easy to install as I was replacing an older Badger. Had the old one for over 15 years; good service life and only replaced as the housing developed a crack which could not be repaired. The mechanism still worked well, so I have confidence in the product. Don't forget to knock out the plug for the dishwasher discharge hose, if you have a dishwasher. I only thought about it later, but did not have to run the DW before I remembered.

Worked perfectly and very easy to install
Very fast shipping, chose free shipping and it was delivered in 2 days, 4 days better than promised. Works great and very quiet, much better than the older model this replaced that was 10 years old. Took less than 15 mins to remove the old unit and install this one.

I bought this to replace a whirlpool CG2000. Surprisingly this unit is almost identical in every way so the install was super easy. Possibly even the same manufacturer.

More than powerful enough for general household waste.
Replaced an old Whirlaway unit that finally expired (worked for over 20 years). I was never sure what HP the old one was as it came with the house and had no indication on the unit itself. However, the Badger was as easy to install as the old one was to remove and hooked up to existing plumbing and power line with no problem. The power of the new unit seems to be the same or more as the old unit, but runs much quieter. Super happy with this purchase.
