1.5 inch spread
These are really well made. They take off heavy duty ring clips from skid steer buckets with ease.

High quality
Very high quality of construction. Strong enough for the biggest/strongest circlip.

Good snap ring plier for the home mechanic
SATA tools are made by the Apex tool group, which also makes Gearwrench tools. They are usually fairly high quality at a lower price. Sometimes the tools aren't quite as nice, and sometimes they are exactly the same. This is one of those cases where I don't believe the pliers are as nice as the Gearwrench version. They are strong, and worked well for me to remove a circular clip from the inside of a steering knuckle before replacing a wheel bearing. The pliers have a nice long handle for good leverage and the tips were thin enough to fit in the ring holes but thick enough to not bend under the tension. As for the build quality and look, I guess they aren't as nice as more professional tools but I'm not going to be too picky for a specialty tool that is just over 10 dollars. I had no trouble gripping the ring, squeezing it and removing it and inserting the new one worked just as well. So for me, actual usability is better than looks, and the tips aren't bent on mine at all. The 90 degree angle is not going to work for all rings, but there is a straight version they sell and it's good to have both if you work with snap rings a lot. I am not sure what "German Style" means. Maybe it's the shape or the type of metal used. Maybe it means they copied the Knipex design. I wouldn't confuse these with an actual German tool, which would cost more and would probably be more appropriate for a professional shop. For home use where I am not using this type of tool on a daily basis, I'm happy with it and these have worked a lot better than the no name snap ring pliers I had been using previously to receiving these. If you look at the Gearwrench 82146, they are basically the same as these for twice the price. Maybe they reserve the nicer looking tools for that brand, but it's all made by the same company. I'm a fan of SATA tools in general and have purchased a lot of them to save money for my home automotive repairs because I am not a professional and am on a budget.

Pure beef
Compared to my current snap ring pliers, this thing is stout. That being said, I didn't fully pay attention to the description and ordered the wrong one. The one I ordered is for external snap rings and opens outward. The snap ring I use on my shackle is and internal ring and sits inside a recess. It's well constructed. The tips are micro ribbed to prevent slippage. Though it does have a couple of issues. The first being the tips. The two pins on the tips are mis sized. They are off from one another. The second being the spring. The spring is under tensioned. So the hand grips have to be widened to get the tips in closer. Fix those two issues and this would be a perfect set. Nevertheless, this one works well for it's intended use.

These Are Fairly Large Plier's And Work Well With Larger Snap Rings!!
Yes these work well with about 1 inch and larger snap rings. I was only able to compare with external snap rings unfortunately. I could not find my case of internal snap rings but I am sure it will probably work well with 1 inch and larger internal snap rings. The pliers do hold the snap rings nicely and the snap ring does not pop off and fly across the shop like some of my other pliers do. They have a good feel to them and handles are long enough to get decent leverage and no bending like some of my other snap ring pliers I have. I am going to get the other ones that Sata makes since this one is so nice. I have also been buying a lot of Sata other tools because so far they are all very well made and better than some other twice the price tools. Hope this helps and thanks..

Does what it’s supposed to
These did exactly what they were supposed to. I needed a set of small nose pliers to fully take apart my grooming shears and give them a thorough cleaning. I was unable to successfully use something else to take the ring out. I got these and it made removing and reinstalling the ring a breeze. These worked great and I would recommend them. They aren’t very expensive and they work just fine. No issues.
