Easy install. Looks great.

I was looking for a wall switch ceiling fan control that does not include a light switch. This is an excellent choice. It installed easily and looks great with the other Legrand rocker switches installed in my home. I am very pleased with this purchase and plan to purchase more for the other fans I have installed.

VERY simple installation - Great functionality

Installed this last night with our new fan. This works great, looks great, and couldn't have been simpler to install. A couple of important points about this switch. 1. This is a FAN controller, so has three detents on the slider for three different speeds. The slowest speed is VERY slow, which is awesome. The fastest is full throttle. Don't mistake it for a light dimmer. It has capacitor circuits specifically designed to manage a fan, AND eliminate the typical "hum" that you get from fans while they come up to speed. 2. The box on the back of the switch is pretty much the full depth of a switch wall box. I had an older 2 gang metal box with some hardware in the back of it that I had to remove to make room for the switch on the left. If I had replaced the older box with a modern, plastic one, I don't think that it would have been so tight. 3. It has a second red wire for controlling a second circuit. (Light fixture?) Unsure of how that would work, but since I don't have a light fixture on the new fan, I didn't have to worry about it. I would absolutely recommend this fan controller/switch for purchase. VERY happy with it.

Fan speed control only - DOES NOT CONTROL FAN LIGHT!

Misleading name on Amazon, this unit does not and cannot control the light on the fan. Please make sure you are only buying this for a fan and NOT a fan/light combo as it will NOT work as a single one-gang item. You will need to purchase a separate spst switch for the fan light. The four star rating is for the control itself, all Legrand products are great, it is really the Title that should be corrected. Photo of item is on the RH side, purchasing a Legrand radiant 15-Amp 3-Way Dark Bronze Combination Light Switch to correct the issue needing two light switches in a single gang box. Part number for that is: #RCD33DBCC6

Easy to install and Works but has some concerns

I bought two of these: one for our office which has a 52in fan and the other for my bedroom that has a 60in fan. I had no issues with the 52inch fan install and worked great (speeds were good and very little buzzing noise. For the bigger 60in fan, the controller speeds were much lower (than without the controller) and there was much more of the buzzing sound. Maybe I had a defective controller or maybe the unit does not work as well with larger fans. Either way I had to return one of them and thus the 3 star review.

Does exactly what you need it to do.

Finish was great, looks amazing on the wall. Provides power to my fan, speed control, and no hum. The installation was very easy, but if I had no prior experience with electrical work it would have been very confusing. The wiring diagram is a bit complicated but from what I've seen with other products is that these diagrams are meant for people with an electrical background. Unfortunately that means that if you want to install this switch you're going to need additional knowledge to what has been provided in the package. YouTube is a great resource.

Dimming completely is lacking.

Great looking switch, however, this particular switch doesn't dim all the way to being off. The lowest dimming is approximately 30 percent, which is still a lot of light at times when you prefer it to be lower, such as watching a movie when you don't want complete darkness.

Not silent as advertised

Ordered this based on the review that said it was the only controller that didn’t cause a whirring noise when the fan is at medium speed. Yes it does just like the other controllers we’ve tried.
