Great set!
We already had a 26 piece set given to us when my oldest turned 2yrs old. We put that set in a little bag and take it with us on trips and when we go out to eat and it always keeps her entertained. I bought this set so that we could build larger/more things at home, now that she's starting to build shapes rather than just stack, unstack, and color sort them. The die are kind of cool because if you're gentle, you can roll them without them falling apart. We'll see how my 2yr old does with them. It might be fun to have her practice her counting and eventually addition using the dots on the die. The wheels and the vehicle pieces are cool. The pieces are the same size as the basic ones, but have a metallic-esque look to them. Some of the designs in the book provided assume you also have the carnival set, but most of the designs can be made with this set. I've already mixed in the 26 pieces from our original set with these, so the picture is using all 144+26 pieces. We've played with other magnet tiles brands during playdates and I like the quality of these. The edges are rounder and despite occasional nomming by my 11mo old, these have shown zero wear over the past 10 months. They're very resilient and don't show scratches like some of the solid pieces in other brands. It is also much easier to separate these from each other when they're stacked than the solid tiles. Definitely recommend them!

The Best Magnet Tiles on the Market Today
This is my first ever product review. I bought the 30 piece set for my niece's first birthday and just purchased the smart 144 deluxe set for her for Christmas. Not only are the magnet's stronger than other brands on the market, the fact that they are open centered is a huge advantage. Plus the magnets are under the plastic as well, however, children under at least three should only use them under direct supervision of an adult, to prevent them from putting them in their mouth. While all magnetic tiles are great for shape learning and basic spatial reasoning skills, the Magformers take it to the next level. Children (and Adults!) can lay out a pattern on a flat surface, and then pull up on the center piece for it to take a 3-D shape. (A model booklet is included). With other tiles, this is just not possible because the magnets are usually too weak and you cannot grasp through the center piece to pull it from a 2-D to a 3-D model. I know the cost may seem on the high side, but the advantages versus slightly less expensive tiles plus the open ended nature of the product, make it worth it. They do go on sale, I had several sets in my basket and got an email when the price changed, including the Cyber Monday sale. Full disclosure: I live just down the street from the Magformer's company and store, however, I have no financial stake nor am I acquainted with anyone at Magformer's. However, I am looking forward to a post-Covid world, so I can head over their store with my niece for some fun playtime! The one thing I would like to see is a carry case either included or sold separately. While storage cases are available, you don't know how many or what shapes may fit in a non-branded case, which makes buying online more difficult.

Great well constructed toy
This is my favorite purchase from Christmas. We have a 5 year old and 1 year old and were looking for a toy that could span the age ranges. Unfortunately with our young son being in the age range where we have to worry about choking our choices were limited. I decided and magnet building blocks and researched A LOT. I decided on Magformers and am very happy with my choice. The magnets are strong and hold together well, and they are small enough to take a ziplock full of a few and bring with us on trips to keep kids entertained in the airports. Bring along a hotwheel or 2 and they can build different buildings for the cars to drive through! Whenever I break them out they immediately grab the attention of the kids in the room. Our 5 year old enjoys building with them. This also works great for our 1 year old. Though he isn't 'building' with them he is enjoying connecting them together and watching them stick to each other, and of course he lllooooovvvvvveees breaking apart anything we build ;-) Most importantly he abuses these to no end through biting, throwing, chucking at the wall, etc. and not one piece shows any sign of wear. Considering I can't say that about any other toy we have ever bought that deserves more than 5 stars! Every piece is also large enough not be swallowed. I had the opportunity to try out Magna-Tiles at a friends house. I can say that the magna-tiles look pretty cool with their semi-clear plastic colors, especially on a light table. However, I prefer the magformers for 2 major reasons. First thought the magna-tile look is cool the fact that they are solid pieces without gaps makes it especially difficult to pick up objects that are built without them breaking. The gaps in the magformers add a level of control, especially with the younger kids, that just isn't there with the magna-tiles. Secondly the magnets in the magformers are stronger so they stick together better. I would definitely purchase this set again. I wouldn't recommend going with a smaller set - all pieces are in use when this set is being played with. Highly recommend!!

She LOVED them, perfect gift for BUSY 4 yr old!
Though this set was expensive, it’s something she’ll have for years to come! It’s easy to see how it will keep kiddos engaged for years, especially if these are switched out with other toys. This granny finds that is key with many good quality toys. Let’s face it a 4 yr old’s imagination is vastly different than a 7 or 10 yr old’s. BUT the really quality toys will engage in different ways at different stages. These were NOT bought on a whim by a wealthy person, I thoroughly researched them & the reviews of similar toys precisely because this was a HUGE gift from us. They kept a VERY busy 4 yr old engaged for 1.5 hr when typically she’s DONE in 20 minutes with any given activity. Looking forward to many years of entertainment with these!

Bought for Xmas present, not the first unit purchased. Excellent price. Great toy for kids. They play for hours.

Useless without an accompanying instruction booklet which is not provided!!
This was a HUGE disappointment as no instruction booklet was available inside the set. Without specific instructions on how to assemble and join the magnets, the set is as good as useless. After trying a few times and failing to make anything of it, the set has just been lying unused in a corner of my children's room.

Go to get the kids creative juices flowing
Not sure what the domino style squares are for, fairly useless I my household, but for the right price this is a great educational and creative outlet for my kids.

Well worth the price for many hours of great fun
Even if the Magformers are more expensinve than competing products, I highly recommend them. We tried (and quickly returned) similar products. The other brands wouldn't hold up and the kids would get frustrated since they would always fall apart. With Magformers, everything that they build holds up nice. If they aren't rough, the kids can play with their creations for a long time.
