Got it after spraining my ankle. Works perfectly! I like its full adjustability
Got it next day! Works perfectly! I like its full adjustability. Note: it breaks in every time you put it on. You’ll notice having more lace and a more tightening. I would buy again!

Provides stability but not too bulky
I am 59 years old and played tennis my whole life. I have nerve damage that causes my left foot to be a little weaker and roll over. This brace does a good job supporting my ankle. Not too bulky as I can still get into my tennis or hiking shoes. I play a lot of pickleball now and this brace is a must have for me and those who turn ankles easily. My only negative is the velcro constantly grabs the laces and frays the laces easily. But laces are cheap. Do not much of a complaint

Offers great support, stability, WAY cheaper than at the doc office too!
My son fractured his growth plate in his ankle and had a level 3 sprain. After being in a boot for a month, the orthopedic specialist he was seeing wanted him to wear this same brace. At his office it cost $90. I told the doctor I wanted to shop around for a better price, and he told me to make sure that I bought a brace that laced up the front AND had a "figure 8" wrap around strap. He said that this type of brace offers the best stability and support. I decided to look on Amazon and found it here for less than $25. This is the exact same brand and model of brace that the doctor had at his office. This brace is very sturdy and stabilizes the ankle. It's made out of a nylon material, laces up the front, and then has a velcro strap that wraps under the foot and around the ankle and then up around the leg. The orthopedic doctor says this offers much more stability to the ankle than a "stirrup-style ankle stabilizer air cast" (Ace makes one) which are found at the drugstore--and honestly this brace is cheaper on Amazon than those anyway! My husband had bought my son one of those stirrup-style braces to wear when he started to refuse to wear the boot any longer (13 years old and was mad about having to wear the boot past week 4 and in the middle of his baseball season which he missed most of), but before the doctor was recommending a brace. My husband figured it was "better than nothing"...the doctor said, well yea, it was better than nothing, but not much. And I could see that my son could still twist his ankle in the stirrup-style brace, which is harder for him to do in the McDavid brace. My son has to wear this brace for all physical activities (long boarding, running, etc.) and it doesn't seem to bother him and his sneaker fits over it just fine. I know others have mentioned that the upper, front area (the "tongue") rubs or bothers their leg, but my son has not had that problem. He's even been wearing it with ankle socks, rather than crew socks now, although if it were me, I would definitely wear a higher crew style sock. But hey, he is 13 and knows everything! My son wears a size 9 men's shoe. The sizes of this brace overlap. The small fits up to a size 9 and the medium starts at a size 9. I contacted the manufacturer and they recommended that my son wear a medium. The medium fits him perfectly, and I feel that the small probably would have been too small. Overall, I am very pleased with this purchase. Especially since it is the EXACT same brand and style that the doctor's office charges $90 for. It's been working great for my son and I would not hesitate to recommend this brace for anyone who needs extra support and stability to an injured ankle.

Great Support and Very Comfortable
I injured my right Achilles tendon two weeks ago during a 5 mile trail run. I will admit, I pushed myself a little too hard, too quickly, but thankfully it didn't cause permanent damage (I hope). Walking normally on it was extremely painful to the point of tears and I was gritting my teeth just to bear with it. Stairs were a nightmare. Going down them would cause a major stab of pain that would shoot up my calf unless I took care to plant it sideways on a step (without bending the ankle) as I traversed them. The first week, I tried out an old (10+ years) lace-up version of the McDavid ankle brace, but it didn't go far enough up on the ankle to provide adequate support for the tendon, and was overall just too loose where it mattered most. Another brand I tried out had support inserts embedded of each side--it provided the necessary support, but unfortunately those inserts rubbed against the medial malleolus and caused additional pain after an hour or so. I finally caved and bought this brace, noting that it had the height I needed w/o metal/plastic support inserts. When it arrived, I put it on immediately and was surprised at how well it fit. I'm a more narrow size 9.5 and bought the Medium brace--it's perfect. It's a lace-up and velcro combo that doesn't accidently cut off the circulation to your toes when tightened as well. I found it nice that the laces were long. I could do the initial tie, use the velcro straps that form the "x" under your foot and attach on the sides of the brace, run the laces through the finger pulls on the straps and tie it around my ankle as well. Then I'd finish it off by securing the main velcro strap (with the logo)so that none of the lace is hanging out. It feels great, the fabric is durable, and it breathes well! After a few minutes of wearing it with a normal shoe on, I barely had any issues with my ankle and practically forgot about it. It provides great support on the sides so it doesn't twist, and gave just enough support when I was walking down stairs to prevent pain by not overextending the tendon. It's comfy--been wearing it for a few days now and its dramatically increased my recovery rate. I'll wear it 10+ hours a day with no issues or discomfort--only to take it off at night. Just be sure to wear crew socks under it so that the top of the brace doesn't rub against your skin (and take a layer off. I've been getting really antsy not being able to run for two weeks now, but I'm feeling really confident in the progress my tendon's made and how well it's being supported by the brace. I'll go for a run with it on tomorrow and see how everything feels! It's worth the price, go for it!

Product is great BUT manufacturer sizing is incorrect
Manufacturer recommendation is medium for shoe size 9. Initially we bought a medium for shoe size 9 and it was too tight and could not be used. Subsequently we bought a large size which fit well and works well. Maybe if you have narrow feet, the manufacturer recommendation may be right. However if you have broad feet, then you may need to buy the next size. The product is non returnable. The product works great.

If you have a foot or ankle issues - try this one
I had tried physiotherapy, rest, two other different braces, medication, supplements ... you name it. After 8 months of all that I was starting to freak out that I might need surgery( which is never optimal) for my ankle tendinitis. This strap has been magic. After a couple of months wearing it daily I am back to cautiosly playing basketball ( but boy it's hard to get back in shape when you are 40 years old:), before trying this brace I couldn't even walk for more than a couple of minutes without sharp pain in my foot. I know it looks bulky, but it is very comfortable. My advice - don't tighten the laces too much. I did that in the beginning out of overabundance of caution - I wanted my ankle to be supported. In fact - try wearing it with the laces tied, but as loose as possible. The two velcro straps on the sides are plenty support. Big thanks to the designers and the producers of this strap. I really can't thank you enough. I am trying not to jinx myself, but this brace has been a lifesaver Edit 3 years on. Don't use long term !!!!! The brace works fine for ankle issues. I did develop patellar tendon issues ( Jumpers knee- very annoying ) Apparently limited flexibility in your ankle ( I think wearing this brace qualifies) increases your chance of getting knee problems 14 times ( or something). I did run with it and I am over 40 so it could be me just getting old.

Amazing for recovering after an injury
Amazing product, I torn my ankle and this helped me to get back on the court, i've been wearing it for 2 months now It is a lot more comfortable than I first thought, I can barely feel it and it really keeps my ankle tight and supported. P.S: This is a "recovery" strap, which means you wear it after an injury and not to prevent an injury. CONS:: If you play 4+ hours without taking it off, like i usually do, you might feel a slight pain (or itch) in the back of your foot, but it is nothing you can't deal with, and as soon as you remove the strap you won't feel it anymore. After two months of use, the laces feel like they're starting to rip (probably because of the pressure since you wear it so tight and you stretch it) But again this is not a big deal, if they ever tear you can buy new ones for 1$.

Excellent quality for the price, really the best for ankle wounds
I already had one for an injury i made more than a year ago and I use it frequently. It offers stability and comfort. Really is the best to prevent being injured again.
