This is the OEM for Kolher 16 083 01

I’m writing this review in hopes that it’ll provide prospective buyers with enough detail to aid in your final decision. I purchased this filter with my own money, it was not provided to me. This filter appeared to be a direct replacement for my Bad Boy ZT Elite Limited which came with a Kolher Confidant 747cc engine. If you’re looking for the abridged version, this Stens filter appears to be the OEM supplier for the Kolher 16 083 01 OEM filter. Purchase with confidence that you are getting the filter you’re looking for. Below you’ll find a more detailed description of what lead me to that conclusion. Filter Construction. Visually, the filters are identical in quality, appearance, materials, construction and finish. Both are dot matrix stamped with similar data (font size differs), part number and both are stamped “Kolher”. Both contain 117 pleats, identical pleat crimp, exterior and interior filter media structural support and diameter cross section dimensions. The OEM Kolher 10 083 02 foam pre-filter media fit well on the Stens, no difference. The only difference I uncovered was that the Stens filter canister height measured between 6 1/16” - 6 1/8” compared to the Kolher 6” - 6 1/32” height (not including the molded flange height) This height difference was confirmed when installing the Stens filter into the air cleaner chamber of the engine in that, it was a tighter fit, maybe 1 foot pound or more to fully insert the filter into the molded plastic seat of the air cleaner. Not the fault of the filter, as it is likely the result of wear in the filter molds during manufacture, not uncommon in manufacturing. Conclusion The Stens air filter appears to be the OEM for my Kolher 747. The height differences may be within manufacturers tolerances but I don’t know what they they are. I do know that I have enough empirical evidence to conclude that the Stens filter is a direct replacement for the OEM filter sold by Kolher. I don’t mind the “tighter” fit and increased insertion force as the filter design is robust enough where it won’t break as long as you push on the black molded filter cap portion during insertion. I’ve attached photos of both filters to aid in your decision. Purchase with confidence, you’re getting quality, original OEM filter made in the USA by Stens, a trusted company with decades of filter manufacturing experience. Do It! Cheers!
