Pretty Good Lamp; Esp For The Price

I bought this light about 2 months ago. the reviews scared me witless, one even calling it a fire hazard. I have to say though that my experience should not be seen as typical. the 3-way switch is very cheesy but i have my lamp plugged into a wall socket that is on a switch. so it stays on the 150 setting all the time and i switch it on and off at the wall.. it is true that the 3 way CF light does stick up above the top of the shade. i don't care and i'd note that the 150w incandescent bulb i used initially was not taller than the globe. the furnishings in my living room range from expensive to salvage. this lamp looks fine. it is not at all apparent that the globe is plastic and it give a good amount of light. i have 11+ foot ceilings & a huge room.. UPDATE: 04/09/2017. :I received the first lamp 4 months ago. i just bought a second one of these lamps. this time it was much easier to assemble as i did it from the top down (as per instructions) rather than from the bottom up (which was how i did it the first time because i found the instructions too late to be of use). it went together quickly and without any gaps or lines. again i'm using it on a switch. for those of you only slightly more dyi gifted than i am, i'm told that you can install a push button off/on switch on the cord. two friends recently saw the lamps for the first time. one thought it great; the other was less enthusiastic but would certainly have told me if she thought it was a really bad error of taste. i'm pretty sure her hesitation was because the CFL stuck up above the shade.

Attractive lightweight floor lamp

I bought this lamp to replace a similar quality IKEA lamp that stopped working after about six years of use. This lamp looks of similar quality and I wouldn't expect it to last any longer than the IKEA lamp. This lamp has an attractive, streamlined, modern design. It very light, only eight pounds, which makes it easy to pick up and move around. In spite of its slender construction, the base is dense enough that the lamp doesn't feel wobbly. I very much prefer this type of lamp where the glare from the bulb is directed upward toward the ceiling, because I have a somewhat conflicting set of requirements in a floor lamp. I like a lot of light to read or do household tasks by, but my eyes are sensitive to the glare from lamps that areshaded sideways orstraight down , which can lead to my line of sight inadvertently colliding with the harsh light of a bare bulb. There is no chance of that with this design. This is a tall lamp of 70 inches, which is 5-foot-10-inches tall. I myself am 5-foot-7-inches tall, and I am not able to reach inside the lampshade to change the bulb unless I grasp the pole of the lamp and tilt it sideways. Since the lamp, as previously mentioned, is very light, this is not a difficult maneuver for me to accomplish. My main complaint with this lamp is the on/off switch. It is hard to turn and would ideally be bigger. I rate this lamp as follows: Attractiveness: 5 stars Portability: 5 stars Sturdiness: 5 stars Lack of Glare: 5 stars Switch: 1 star Overall: 4 stars

Good Lamp but…

It looks good and I’d buy it again (to use in a back room)…except the 3-way LED bulb sticks out of the top. And, the switch is cheap. It’s hard to turn, and it clicks 4 times to set brightness: bright, brighter, dim, then brightest.

Great lamp. Still running after 10 years

I ordered this lamp 10 years ago and have always brought it with me through many different dorms and apartments. It is incredibly versatile, sturdy, and visually appealing. Very useful to supplement a dim ceiling light. It has never failed, and is easy to disassemble and pack in a small box.

Attractive quality floor lamp

I live in a studio apartment and my one light in constant use is my floor lamp right by my couch. My previous one just stopped working. I wasn't too disappointed for it was ok looking but nothing great. I then searched high and low and finding an adequate quality lamp at a reasonable price was very difficult. Some were extremely high in price and much more than the basic lamp I needed. I couldn't find any simple floor lamps of this height in local stores and luckily I do most of my shopping on Amazon. One would think buying a lamp would be simple. But a couple of issues with a torchiere floor lamp like this are very important to me. It would be the main light in my apartment so I want to make sure the shade will spread a quality amount of light. Some shades are more frosted and it limits the light exuded. Next is the look. I knew I wanted a black base with a somewhat modern look. This lamp seemed like the best choice and I've been thrilled with it. Yes, it is just a simple lamp but buying a simple product doesn't mean it still shouldn't deliver. This is a put together lamp with a plastic shade. It was very easy to assemble and some attention was actually put into its base design. It is a basic lamp but it is attractive. It looks much more expensive than it is and the shade is also attractive and allows a great amount of light to be emitted. It's served my purpose greatly and not only does it fit in well with my modern design but would fit into almost any style of decor. A quality product at a good price.
