Beautiful light fixture!

Simple but effective with CFL globes

I could not find a replacement for my fancy energy efficient flourescent that came in all polished brass. The old unit used the skinny T58 flourescents and had an elegant cover with brass inserts. When the ballast died for the second time, however, I decided to make a switch as the cover was beginning to yellow with age. Unfortunately, I could not find a flourescent replacment in all polished brass to match the rest of my bath fixtures. By using six 11-watt 500-Lumen CFL G25 globes (GE85392) in this unit, it creates an energy efficient (and very bright) light bar over the large vanity. They make this in a 4 bulb version if you don't need a lot of light or have a smaller bathroom/vanity. The bulbs take a moment or two to brighten fully but produce a nice white light. Very simple to install as weight of unit is held by wall anchors at both ends of the underlying backplate and also attaches over the centered electrical box. Good solution at fairly low initial cost and obviously a low operating cost with only 66 total watts.

Close to black

I didn’t install this so I can’t help there but I was looking for a light fixture strip that had black hardware that could fit in the space of my bathroom and decided to give this a try. It’s not a true Matte black but it is close enough to a black color that I left it!

Great update for any bathroom

My home was build in the 1980's so a lot of the hardware in the house is looking dated. I wanted to get rid of the old "antique brass" original light bar but I had to admit that light bars are good for lighting bathrooms. I looked at many more expensive bathroom lighting fixtures but in the end I decided a simple light bar with the right finish and a contemporary look was what I needed and I'm very happy with the outcome. The instructions for installation are sketchy but most DIY's are probably familiar with this type of fixture so you don't need a 20 page manual. One thing new to me was the fact that the top plate is held in place by the collars using pressure alone - there are no retention screws. That was not mentioned in the instructions but it was easy to figure out and it made the installation that much easier.

Poor packaging

The packaging on the product is not good. The first strip was damaged and I had to send it back. The second one is damaged but I was able to fix it and it looks fine. The fixture was easy to install and gives off a lot of light. Just wish they could fix the packaging so that you would not have to fix the product when it arrives.

It's alright

It looks great. The only problem is that one end of the metal was bent. We tried to fix it and get it as straight as possible. However, one end still doesn't sit flush with the wall. It is not that noticeable, which is why we didn't send it back.

Nice for the price

Very nice for the price, you can't beat it. I wanted black which they did not carry and did not want to spend a fortune on a bathroom light so I got this and spray painted it, looks great.
