Perfect Fit

This Snoot Boot Wide Body Medium, is a great fit for my Sony A mount 70-300 G lens and hood. Fits on my belt along with my camera holster bag, and my Lowepro lens exchange bag. Now when I am shooting concerts and such I can quickly grab a lens without wrestling inside my Lowepro sling bag. The Snoot Boot will also act as padding inside my photo vest and my sling bag. Great product to add to other Op/Tech equipment I use. I have a Snoot Boot wide body small on order, it will fit both my Sony A mount 11-16 zoom and my Sony A mount 16-50 F2.8. I have five of these boots, and I like them because they are true neoprene pouches, not just neoprene covering a liner of fuzzy cloth. They are designed to allow a lens to actually go in and out of the bag without a lot of effort, yet they still offer great protection.

The XXL size fits a Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 200-500mm f/5.6E ED VR perfectly - with tripod bracket attached, but without sunshade (and despite what some online reviewers state). The draw string leaves an approx. quarter size hole when closed - but that's in my experience the case with all Op/Tech pouches and doesn't take away from their function to protect the lens against scratches an light impact.

Cost effective lens case

I purchased this for a a canon EF 400mm L lens I picked up used so it didn't come with the manufacture's case. The length of the sleeve for this lens is spot on, however, it's a bit wide for this particular lens. Because the boot is neoprene, the drawstring top does not close completely so there is a gap. Ideally, I would like it to close completely. However given the price point for the lens, this is a good solution and feel the lens is adequately protected.

Good lens pouch

The Op/Tech Snoot Boot medium was a great fit for my Canon EF-S 55-250 zoom with hood. It gives it protection from bumps and weather without being too bulky. It cinches it tight with the drawstring and stays closed. I can still fit it inside my camera bag, or stuff it in a backpack. The side clip looks like it's strong enough to hang from a belt, but I'd probably feel more confident putting inside a backpack or sling bag. This Snoot Boot was wide enough to fit a EF-S 15-85 zoom lens, but couldn't accommodate the lens hood too. For that, I think the wide body version of this would be a better choice. I also like that it was made in the USA. It felt good to support US manufacturers.

I love these Snoot Boots from OpTech. I have at least five of these. They're sturdy and well-made, and provide nice protection for the lens without a lot of added bulk. Good for protecting lenses when put loose in a backpack or shoulder bag. The built-in clip and belt loop also come in handy, allowing you to carry the lens on a sling strap or belt for a minimalist carry. I found that my Olympus 12-40mm Pro lens with hood and UV filter attached fits quite nicely in this one and is better protected than in the Olympus lens pouch. I originally bought it to hold an Olympus 9-18mm zoom with hood attached, but this was a bit too big for that. :-)

Drawstring Can't Fully Close

I had read one review that mentioned the drawstring didn't fully close, but that it wasn't a big deal. For me, however, it was a deal breaker and I returned it. I bought it to protect my 100-400mm telephoto lens (9"). When I pulled the drawstring as tight as it could go there was still quite a large opening- almost large enough for the end of my lens to come out- certainly large enough for other objects to get in, possibly damaging the lens. I will be purchasing a zippered lens case instead.

Protection for your lens

I use OpTech snoot boots mainly for lens protection during travel. And the boots do exactly, provide a layer of neoprene around the lens for those inevitable bumps along the way. Not sure if I'm crazy about the way you cinch the top tight. It really does nothing more than prevent the lens from falling out. I use the boot with a Sigma 150-600mm Contemporary.

Best for the 4/3 user this is another excellent product from Optech

This is not my first Optech product and as usual I'm impressed with the level of quality in their products. This Snoot Boot is the perfect size for my 50mm portrait lens and does an excellent job of keeping it safe. For DSLR users there aren't many lenses that will fit to be honest - so this may be better suited to the 4/3 user. I'd like to add an aside about Optech's customer service. I lost the plastic screw that held my camera case onto my camera, and emailed Optech to buy a couple of spares. I was most impressed by their response - they simply put two in the post free of charge. All the way from the USA. Now THAT is good service and THAT is why I will continue to buy Optech.

Op/Tech Snoot Boot Wide Body Medium.

I bought this to protect my Tamron 150-600mm lens as it has a rather large front end when using screw in filters. It is an ideal lens protector as it pulls over the front end and covers the focus grip. I had not seen these before buying this one and might now buy some more small ones to protect other lenses I have.

Sourcing a lens pouch to fit my Tamron 10-24 Lens complete with good was extremely difficult. Although more expensive than the "run of the mill" pouches it was well finished and well worth the money. Highly recommended for owners of side angle lenses.
