It works well with my swimming pool filter system. My only dislike is that prices have gone up so much

Awesome clear water

Originally bought this to use instead of cellulose when opening a green pool due to it being cheaper. Worked great and rinsed off the filter well when clogged up. I was going to switch back to fiber clear after the water cleared up, but the water has been so crystal clear that I decided to stick with perlite. Actually surprised that it is working so well! Cellulose works well too, but it seems like it gets caked on the filter and doesn’t quite match this stuff in getting the water really really clear.

Good DE Substitute

(+): Perlite filters great in my 15K gallon pool with the ability to easily rinse and wash away during a backwash or filter tear down. It’s also lighter in weight, which makes tear down a bit easier too. I notice that my pool seems to stay more clear and the time between filter cleanings as decreased by 10-20%. Flow rate (more water flow) is also much better, with 25% increase across all pump speeds. This is especially noticeable in the jacuzzi with the force of the jets. (-): No matter what I do, the Perlite always flows into the pool when adding through the skimmer. Also, it seems to quickly cloud the water a bit upon initial recharge, but clears up within a couple hours. With DE, I’ve never had this problem. I do occasionally get the “white balls” on my glass tiles, but either I wipe them off or they dissolve with 7-10 days.

First time to use this product, I used D.E. for years before I was told it can be harmful if inhaled, so I switched to Cellulose powder, that stuff is a mess, does a good job but cakes up on the screens in the filter; So far I like this product, it was delivered on time and in good shape, You have to pre-mix it in water before pouring it in the skimmer basket, so save one of your 50# chemical buckets. I do not like that it gets in the pool and collects on the tile, but it brushes off easily. Perlite seems to do as good a job as the before mentioned products at keeping the water clear. I have not had to backwash as frequently as with Cellulose or D.E. Because of the deposits on the tile, it gets 4 stars.

This product save me $600

I tried this product after my local pool dealer told me that my old d e pool filter was no longer available New York and California were going to discontinue any use of the d e products he tried to sell me a sand filter and pump I've had my pump for over 12 years along with the DE filter I continually had to get rid of the old d e and put in new de in order for the filter to run that is recommended 12 PSI the pump keeps slowing down I thought it was time for a new pump but I thought I give this product a try the stuff is wonderful my filter and pump are working better than they ever did my pool is crystal clear the stuff is amazing I'd recommend it to anybody with a d e pool filter

Either it was a mistake from the manufacturer or The WORST PRODUCT EVER!!! I was buying this brand of DE alternative and never had a complaint till now..it arrived like always just smaller bag which should've been sign..I was using it and pool started to not function properly filtration of the flow of the water got super low I thought my pump was giving out then my PSI gage was clogged and not working and honestly thought it was broken. Then I noticed a white substance on the water line and it looked like salt but said to myself it’s the DE Alternative But then 2 days later I couldn’t see through my pool water it was massively cloudy. So I back washed added the DE alternative and same result. So out of desperation I decided to clean filter.and I am a women alone doing a 2 man job.so I opened her up and PSI GAGED WAS CLOGGED WITH SALT!!!! DE Filters were covered in salt so I cleaned it flushed the pump and skimmers with a drain king went to Leslie’s and bout a bag of there alternative. Everything was perfect PSI gage working but water was still super cloudy so on day 3 after flushing I did it again cleaned filter and still full of salt . So again added Leslie’s DE Alternative and now water flowing great PsI gage working , pump working and water is clear. WILL NEVER BUY THIS PRODUCT AGAIN.

replaces DE for pool filter.

Can't dump DE or backflush the pool into street drains anymore and it leaves a mess in the yard if I dump it in the yard. I love this stuff! Easily composts itself into the yard/grass. Rinses out of the filter easily! Makes it easy to backflush pool filter & replace the filter powder.
