I installed this Pfister 1-handle faucet in place of a very, very old 1980s 2-handled faucet that was worn out and starting to leak. The sink I installed it in has the overflow drain and 3-holes for faucet mounting, so I used the baseplate included with this Pfister faucet. The install was mostly very straightforward. Just follow the directions, it's really quite simple. I did not use any plumbers putty, sealant, or teflon tape on any connections and it does not leak or drip at any of the connections. IMPORTANT INSTALL TIP: The install requires installing a small adapter into the faucet end of each water line, then plugging the faucet line into the adapter. The faucet lines have two small rubber o-rings that seal it. The only hitch I ran into was an o-ring caught on the sides of the adapter when it was inserted, and dragged it out of it's position. This caused a tiny water drip. I disconnected that connection and found the o-ring was still intact so I put it back in place, put a little spit on it and plugged it back in. It slipped in fine the second time. So, make sure to lube those o-rings with a little spit before installing them (it will be more obvious when you see the part). Now the install is perfect, the brushed nickel looks great, the faucet flows slightly slower than the very old unrestricted faucet it replaced but the flow is quieter and is a straighter and smoother column of water. Looks good and works perfect! The base is a combination of thin stainless steel and plastic...so don't overtighten the base when installing it just get it snug. I had my doubts about the "Push & Seal" drain, but it really is great. Much better than the old handle/lever/plug system. It seals and works perfectly, even on this old sink from the 1980s, and it eliminates all the corroding metal drainpipe and the (also corroding) lever and handle parts from the old drain plug system. It frees up some space under the sink, simplifies the PVC piping, there are no metal parts to corrode anymore, and the best part is....I don't need to take the whole trap apart to clean out hair and buildup, now I only need to unscrew the "Push & Seal" plug from the top to clean it out. This sink now drains probably 50% faster than it did with the old levered drain plug since most of obstructions are now removed from the drain pipe. It's important to realize this faucet/drain combo will only work on sinks which have the overflow hole/drain built into it. (Most do). I'm totally satisfied with the look and function of this faucet and drain. The simplicity of the install was a bonus. Pfister products are never really cheap, but they really do last longer, work better and are generally cheaper in the long run compared to a lot of the flimsy knock-off brands you see listed on Amazon.

A simple and elegant faucet that is easy to install

This faucet is lovely, with a stylish modern design. The fit and finish is flawless. I really like the design, which is simple and elegant. It will be interesting to see how well the "spot defense" works. We ordered this to replace a Price-Pfister bathroom faucet that was supposed to be all stainless steel, however, the base completely rusted out. It had a lifetime warranty, but they no longer make that model, so they said the warranty was void. Price-Pfister is now known simply as Pfister. Installation is fairly straight-forward. The faucet supports single hole mounting, a small accessory base comes in the kit for use with standard 3-hole counters. The kit also has a push style pop-up drain that seems to function well. The pop-up drain is easier to install than drains that are operated via a lever on the faucet, as there is no coupling mechanism to deal with. The drain seems to seal well, the only down-side I see with this type of drain is, you have to get your hand wet to drain the sink. Installation begins by securing the faucet to the counter, which is accomplished with a ring that rides up a long bolt exiting the bottom of the faucet. Once the faucet is secured to the counter, you connect the supply hoses. The supply hose connection on this faucet is not typical, it requires a special adapter that accepts the o-rings on the end of the supply tubes. To avoid over-stressing the fittings, you first attach the adapter to your 1/2 FIP supply hose, once the adapter is secured to the supply hose, you seat the double o-ring fitting in the adapter and hand-tighten the threaded collar. The o-ring connection is critical to avoiding leaks, care should be taken to make certain the o-rings are seated properly. I found it helpful to lube the o-rings prior to seating them in the adapter with some food-grade silicone o-ring grease. The operation of the faucet is smooth and simple. I much prefer a single lever mixing faucet over two handled faucets. As I mentioned, the drain is activated by pushing down the drain plug, to drain the sink you simply push it again, which allows the drain plug to pop-up. Bottom line: This is an elegant faucet that works well. Installation is easy, the o-ring adapter makes it less likely to over-tighten and damage the faucet's supply tube fittings. We are hopeful this will last longer than the faucet it replaced.
