Great dome light, installation depends on the version

I'm posting this mainly to clarify the installation comments others have given. There are two version of this fixture - one light and two light. The single light fixture involves pushing the plate up onto two head-down screws and then sliding it sideways to lock it. You have a little margin of error because of the slide lock - once one screw pops through, you're likely to get the other one with minimal effort. Now on the two light installation, you have to thread two screws with no head into two tiny holes and then screw a little ball ontop of them. You have to hit both screws at the same time because the holes are just barely big enough for the screw. It's extremely difficult if your socket is old or even a little bit loose. Every time I hit one screw, the plate would push the other one out of reach. The one time I did get both screws in, I dropped one of the little balls and had to start over. I actually gave up on the two light and installed the one light instead. It looks great and I didn't have to empty my wallet into the swear jar when I got done.

Highly Recommend

I ordered one at first, and ultimately ordered an additional 3 of these units. Installation was very easy. All units came with instructions (to refute previous reviews saying they don't have instructions), and the installation mounting is very standard and easy to do. 2 screws into the fixture, slide the base up onto the screw mounts, and screw them down tight. Wiring is basic as well: black/white/ground. The alabaster globe is beautiful. It is inserted into the base, and then rotated into a 'lock' position. I like this look, as it prevents a visible screw cap from sitting in the middle of the globe. This house was built in the 80's, and the previous light fixtures are the originals from that era. These lights really help modernize the hall light fixtures. Easy to install, and allows you the flexibility of being able to choose your own lighting (soft white, daylight, LED/CFL/Incandecent, lumens, etc.)

Good looking contemporary ceiling fixture for your bedroom or hallway etc...Like the glass diffuser..can't see the lightbulb outline which I like..the metal body is pretty light duty but good bang for your buck and easy peasy installation..tip for dummies like me ..you install the two long mounting screws into the ceiling mount first then push up the light base over with screws coming through large holes..twist and secure.....

Perhaps Progress Lighting should include hardware and instructions with their products! Quality also looks pretty poor but won't know how it will hold up. Going back.
