Iv been using the regular shampoo and conditional from this line before investing in this mask. I have fine highlighted medium length hair that gets oily at the roots, but the ends are prone to damage. This mask is perfect for someone like me. Was not too heavy, made my hair shiny and bouncy and my 2.5 month old color pop. Ive since slept, worked out after my last shampoo and mask, and my hair is still shiny, and doesnt need to be washed yet. If not for the price i would use this way more often!

Very moisturizing
I have coarse, medium thick hair that has been chemically treated. So I need a lot of moisturizing help. I try to do a deep condition at least once a week; otherwise, my hair gets so dry and frizzy. This masque is perfect for my deep conditioning needs. It is thick and dense - just the right texture for my needs. I use it once a week and leave it on for at least 10 minutes. This is the minimum length of time for my hair I find that's necessary to work wonders on my coarse hair. Of course, the longer the better. But after 10 minutes, my hair feels so soft, silky and my fingers just glide through it. And it stays like that for at least a couple days. The scent is strong and perfumy. It's not off-putting to me but others might not find it pleasant.

This is a great professional product that can definitely do some serious repair on heavily processed hair, especially hair that has trouble holding onto color due to porosity issues. I have one client in particular whose hair does not hold onto absolutely anything at all. I find when using this masque after her color processes, we do get better color retention for at least an additional week. She comes in every 4 weeks for a refresh and normally has a lot of fade between processes, but since we've used this product 3 times we have noticed improved retention between appointments. This is a deep-conditioning masque which matters greatly in how it's applied to the hair. Deep conditioners truly take a moment to penetrate, soak into, and begin the process of rehydrating the hair strand. Water, ironically, will reduce the efficacy of products like this as well if the hair is oversaturated with water before the conditioner is applied. As a result, if you pull this product off of the hair prior to a minimum of a 7-10 minute rest time on the hair, you will end up with hair only half-hydrated and wondering why a $70 hair masque didn't do anything to your hair. When left on for a minimum of 15 but best 20 minutes, I find this product does truly assist with locking in color retention. Despite being a deep conditioner, I will say that I feel this masque is more focused on aiding color retention rather than providing that deep dose of hydrating moisture hair loves at the end of a wash, so even after using this masque, I will run a quick regular conditioner through the hair atop it to give hair that final slip it's looking for. When that combo is used together with masque PLUS conditioner, hair will feel healthier and look glossy and strong, as well as have better potential for holding onto your color application. Overall I can say I'm very satisfied with this product and while it is expensive, it's priced about the same as it would be if you were purchasing it from a salon, as it is a professional product - and you do also need only a little, and it only needs to be used every few weeks. I'm thrilled with the color retention you can get with porous clients using this masque and I will continue to make use of it at my salon for sure. Recommended.

I thought this product did great for my hair. It kept the color bright and my hair soft. The product smelled great, too. I received this product through Amazon Vine, and while I liked the product, I can't say I would pay the full price.

Color treatment mask aimed at preserving color of treated hair and improving the health of hair.
I am passionate about hair care and know the importance of products working as described. The primary aim of this color mask product is to protect and prolong the color of hair that has been dyed. This is currently listed at the higher end of premium hair care products and I am yet to see the reason why it is transformative or protective compared to other products that are both standard and premium/luxury beauty. I have also used it side by side a product that was not designed to be color protective and this product did not do as well as that did. I have also used this after a color protective product and my hair seemed to fade quickly. It does soften and makes my hair smell pretty but had I not know, I may not have noticed that it was a premium care product aside from potentially the packaging, unique smell, and softening effect it had on my hair. It is still a good product but it is not understood yet why it is in premium beauty. I will apply the product and update with time and futher use as needed. Suggestions for improvement- There is a seed card that is supposed to be inside the box and planted. This product was missing that card. -Thicken the formulation and also make it more penetrating. It seems mild and does not seem to hydrate, protect color, or and silken my hair as well as I would expect from a premium product.

Not enough slip
I have fine, naturally wavy, color-treated hair that is prone to dryness. I was fortunate enough to try three products from R+Co's Primary Color line: the shampoo and conditioner and this hair mask. I've used these products together for almost a month now. I've used this mask three times. I'm really digging my results overall. My hair is soft, shiny and manageable. My color is vibrant. Currently, I'm sporting a kind of chocolate mauve moment, so the red/purple tones, especially, are prone to fading very quickly. The products together seem to be doing a better-than-average job at maintaining my color, which I'm thrilled about. Unfortunately, though, this mask is the weak spot in the trio, in my opinion. It really doesn't do anything different for my hair than the conditioner does. And it doesn't have enough slip to it to easily comb it through my hair in the shower, so I always end up adding some conditioner for that purpose, anyway. This product was just OK for me. If I'm honest, I do struggle quite a bit trying to reconcile its high price point, especially given its so-so performance.
