SeaChem's Discus Buffer is the most reliable pH lowering buffer I have found.

I started keeping Discus fish twenty-something years ago. At the time I was living in Miami and had the good fortune to find a great fish store called Some Things Fishy. These guys were all about fish, freshwater, and Marine. They helped me get started in the hobby and recommended SeaChem products. I have used them all these years with great results. SeaChem's Discus Buffer is the most reliable pH lowering buffer I have found! Great in planted tanks.

Now I have algae

My tank is 4 years old. I keep one fish in it. A Betta. My water test kit says no issues. It has only a few live plants. I have a whole house water filtration system. RO and DM water. Yet my PH is a little higher than I like. 7.8 so I wanted to lower it to at least 7.0 or even better 6.8 as ideal PH for Bettas is on the lower end. I never had any algae issues until I added this discus buffer which I see has Phosphate in it which I read causes algae. I do not use CO2 injection. I went by the directions and dosed it the amount it said each day and got it to 7.4 before I saw that algae was growing like crazy on the plants and glass and ornaments. I have always done a 20 percent water change once a week. I never had a problem with algae like this before. I did add two Cattappa leaves recently to this 20 gallon tank but I don't think that is the cause. I feel this buffer is. To bad because I wanted to lower the PH which it was doing but I need one that does not have algae causing components in it. So its back to drawing board for me in my quest for a PH buffer that gives me what I need with out causing me other problems.

Discus Buffer is the best way I've found to soften my tap water quickly and affordably. Add some Neutral Regulator for any pH issues and Prime for your fish and the tap water is instantly ready for my fish/planted tanks. I know there are tons of ways to balance your water, but let's be honest, who has time or $$ for most of them? Not me. This is the fastest, easiest way I've been able to turn my tap water fish friendly. My parameters here are hard water that is high pH due to the use of chloramine.

I received an opened can! The protective foil is broken, part of the contents is poured out of the can! I am very dissatisfied with the Seachem seller: I don’t understand how you can send a defective product to the buyer!

Il ph è stato abbassato, solo che... Volevo un’alternativa alla torba per tenere basso il ph e non ambrare troppo l’acqua. Inserito nell’acqua osmotica, assieme ai sali come da istruzioni e Poi ho aggiunto un cucchiaino al giorno per due giorni e ... sono cominciate a crescere le alghe nere a pennello che non ho mai avuto. I fosfati sono andati a valori altissimi, quindi per me il prodotto non è valido e crea problemi, proprio una delusione da questo marchio che ho sempre pensato al top.

Hay que tomarle la medida para ajustar el ph a lo que convenga. Funciona, lo único es que para plantados no sirve porque está basado en fosfatos y las plantas lo consumen y deja de hacer efecto
