Really good but...
The printing of the facts is too small.

Cards with science info; game doesn't make you read the cards; my kids were curious
This is four decks of cards. Each deck is about a science topic. So, math (Peculiar Problems), technology, engineering, and science. On the back of each card is a photo and a short paragraph about a topic and then some numbers rating that topic on different traits. For all decks except not Peculiar Problems, the topic gets a score for: innovation, obstacles, everyday impact, age, and top trumps rating. The Peculiar Problems deck has different things it's scored on. So, you can combine three of the decks, but not all four. You use the scores for each trait to play a card war game where the goal is to win all the cards. It's just a game of comparing numbers. The game doesn't make you read the cards. I tried playing this with a 5 year old and with my husband helping a 3 year old to play. They were too young for the game, because actually they got distracted and wanted to talk about the cards. So, go figure, for my family this was a good way to learn a little about the science topics on the cards. Cards are good quality. Right now, the price on Amazon comes out to about eight dollars per deck. I would say these are good cards, like three of four dollar decks you get at a teacher supply store. Dollar Store card decks tear up fast, but do have good info when they are licensed through National Geographic at the dollar store. Anyway, these decks have a good production value, good info, and each comes in a sturdy plastic case for storage. You are paying for better cards that last when used.

Good game
I like when my kids play games because it so much better than staring at a screen. This was a very fun game for my kids. They really enjoyed it. It kept their interest. I really like that it gets them playing with others. It is great for them to play with each other or with us. We like to have family game nights. This game wasn’t too hard for them to learn. The quality was very good. It held together fine. I really think it’s a lot of fun for them. I also like to give games as gifts. I would recommend this one.

Fun...but needs a little something more, to encourage reading
When I received these, I wasn't exactly sure what I was getting myself into, game-wise. From the description, I gathered that each of these could be used in a battle-format card game, but I figured there was more too it than just points on a card. However, that's all there is to it. Each card has a neat little description and image, featuring something cool in the field of science, engineering and/or technology, and each item has a list of values. Then the kids battle cards, and the card with the highest value wins. My only complaint is that the format of the game doesn't really ever require the players to engage with the information on the cards. In fact, they don't actually have to read the information on the card, to play. This seems like a bug, not a feature, even though the kids still enjoy "battling." I'd say this is still a worthy purchase for curious kids. The right sort will want to read about all the cool things, anyway, game aside.

Fun if Kids Are Interested in the Subject Matter
We like the Top Trump games, but have learned that the fun quotient varies directly with the child's interest in the subject matter. Our first experience was with a Dangerous Insects game that our kids loved. They enjoyed playing the game AND reading the interesting, scary, and gross facts about bugs. The STEM set is particularly specific in its subject matter and will likely be enjoyed by kids that like primarily sciences. If not, they'll not likely want to read the info on the cards if they want to play the game at all. Fun and educational, but only recommended for kids with an interest in science.

Can You Guess?..
..grandsons, ages 6 & 10, have the idea but haven't applied themselves too much to the game. Next time we have a family get-together I'll get this game out and the boys will like it. They like the info on the cards while looking at them. I think we need a crowd to get them interested!

Good STEM playing cards
I don’t really care for the way it suggests that you play it by calling out the highest statistics and then you win that round of cards because you can usually win by age. I can think of spin-offs like mental math for middle schoolers to add all the scores on the card to determine who has the highest overall number and then declare that person the winner. I would also suggest that the kids read the Top Trumps File cards before revealing the scores so that they can learn something first. Overall, this card set is unlike anything that I’ve tried or had so I give it 5 stars for ingenuity. This is a good set of STEM playing cards.
