This would be perfect if the display/readout was larger
I scoured Amazon and the internet for simple and easy-to-read watches, looking for certain features and reading reviews, which takes more time than one would like to calculate. If you want watches with bells and whistles there are millions. If you want a watch that someone with low vision and/or memory problems/dementia can read, not so many. It’s sad when you get right down to it, but I expect it’s because those not needing exotic interfaces just use their cell phone to check the time. Dad’s watch broke, so I needed to replace it. He’s 87 with diminishing eyesight, memory problems, ad encroaching dementia. Dad has 4 or 5 clocks in his room, but can’t handle not having a watch on top of all the clocks and an over-sized timer that can break your eardrums. (When we moved him out of his house, he had so many clocks it wasn’t funny, often more than one on a surface.) All I wanted was a clearly readable time, plus the date and day of the week in a hopefully reliable watch. I narrowed my search down to three watches that varied in cost from $13 to $70. We leaned toward digital because I read that as their memory got worse, people often become unable to understand the analog clock face and benefit from just having the actual time in digits. Of these three watches, two are outstanding, and one is good if the person’s vision is still good enough. I expect that all will require us to set the time if it should need changing for any reason. I’m giving Dad all three, although the first two in the list were immediate hits. Here are the watches and why I chose them: Reizen Low-Vision Ana-Digit Atomic Watch - Leather Band Pros – Very easy to read analog face, atomic so it will keep itself set, digital day and date that will adjust itself correctly, battery-operated so doesn’t need winding. Dad thought it was absolutely beautiful. Cons – leather band that someone with impaired coordination can’t put on. We replaced the band with a silver and gold stainless steel twist-a-flex/expansion band. The day/date display could be larger. The directions are absolutely horrid. We’ll have to do any adjustments, as it takes us a bit to get some of it figured out. And trying to get the second hand to stop precisely on the 12, as required by some steps. Yeah, good luck with that! Men's Digital Sports Watch LED Screen Large Face Military Watches and Waterproof Casual Luminous Stopwatch Alarm Simple Army Watch - Black Pros – The first thing Dad said about this watch was that he could read it without squinting. And he’s right, just a beautiful clear bright display. Easy enough to set. Cheap; if this watch breaks easily, I could get one a month for Dad without stressing. Surprisingly enough, Dad – who’s rather conservative – may actually like this watch more than the Reizen, even though the Reizen is more attractive. I think it’s that the time is just so incredibly easy to read. Cons – Plastic band that someone with impaired coordination can’t put on and that will make some folks’ arms sweat. We replaced the band with a black stainless steel twist-a-flex/expansion band. That changed the looks of the watch immensely. It went from a plain huge hunk of plastic to a cool military type watch. So win/win for another $8 or so. Timex Men's T78587 Classic Digital Silver-Tone Stainless Steel Expansion Band Watch Pros – exactly the type of interface we wanted. Simple display with date, day, and time. All digital. So far so good. The bright display background makes digits more visible, plus there’s a light. It came with a twist-a-flex/expandable metal band making it easy to put on, unlike the others which came with latched bands. Cons – the display/digits are smaller than optimum. This watch can’t be read easily by a person with low vision. That said, Dad can read it with a bit of squinting. It’s sad, because otherwise this would be the perfect watch for Dad, but the smaller display makes this the lesser of the three watches. So far, Dad likes it the least. We bought twist-a-flex/expandable metal bands at Walmart and also orderedGilden Gents Expansion 17-22mm Black Stainless Steel Watch Band 552-B-3 on Amazon. A slip-on watch is a must for those with diminished coordination. Overall, we like all three watches and would buy them all again with the caveats above. We’re leaving all three with Dad so he can rotate through them to see which one he likes the best or just to change what he’s wearing, since he’s always loved watches. Should any watch not perform up to expectations, I will amend this review.

Looks and works great
This was exactly what I was looking for. It looks great and is a little loose on my wrist. It's listed as a men's watch but fits my wrist the way I want it to. I love the way this looks!

Classic style but a bit small
Watch is exactly as described. Classic 80s look which I was going for. But for a man, it really wouldn't hurt to make it just a tad bigger.

Backlit not as bright as expected
I purchased this watch for my son, to replace the same make and model he's been using for many years. He has pretty much worn it out. But he still really likes this watch. I was surprised the new watch was not as bright as his old one, and I think it may make it a little more difficult to read. I'm hoping it just came with a weak battery and will improve once it needs to be replaced. I gave it 4 stars since my son really likes it.

My husband loves it
Great quality watch especially for the price, the watch can be worn as a everyday watch. My husband and I both love it.

Loved the watch until last one I purchased
I have purchased this exact watch for probably the past 35. Usually they last around 5 years. I always get same watch as I know how to use it, and it always worked great. I bought last one a couple months ago, and it didn't work right out of the box, so I sent it back. Was very disappointed, as I always had good luck with it. SO, up until last one, I loved it and would have given it 5 stars, Now I don't know if I should try again or not.

Great vintage watch
I love everything about this watch except that it lacks a timer so only four stars. It is sleek, good looking, great fit with expandable band and otherwise great functionally.

Cheaper than it looks
Edited - I posted a positive review at first as I really liked this watch but it turned out that the case (despite looking like a very convincing metal) is actually a plated plastic one, and approximately 18 months after buying it - and wearing it every day - the case just sheared around the bottom corner whilst I was out walking. I returned it to Timex at my expense (as it comes with a 2 year warranty) and they replied stating that it wasn't a manufacturing fault so it does not fall under the terms and conditions of the warranty. I'm very disappointed with Timex and I will not be buying one of their watches again.

Nice watch…….if you have time and tools to start !
Bought this watch as I have the similar one in silver from years ago. Just as good and comfortable expandable bracelet. BUT, it took a pair of strong scissors to get it out of the needless Fort Knox packaging. Then I needed a magnifying glass to read the minuscule print on the instruction leaflet, only to find it referred me to a code on packaging I had thrown in the bin but managed to retrieve which in turn took me to an online manual. 30 minutes in all to set up. As this is a retro watch surely some thought should have gone into the demographic of those buying it - ie someone who was young in the 1980s. Come on, it’s a digital watch, not a hybrid car

Very disappointed.
After wearing a Timex sports watch for years I decided to get one that was more attractive. That's about the only thing good about it. In many regards it is nex to useless. To begin with, the time can be seen only by rolling your wrist until the light you're in falls appropriately on the numbers. The date is even harder to view and needs a lot more experimenting with the available light source to read at all. Most of the time, it is cut off half-way. Both functions seem to work better in normal daylight (If I happen to be outdoors) than with indoor lights. The buttons needed to set functions are very difficult to use: I have to use my fingernails since I apparently have fat fingers and the pressure just is not enough to activate the function. And the wrist band is neither very expandable (hard to get over the hand) and uncomfortable (sharp edges). Very disappointing.

Good watch
It's a good watch, easy to read face in daylight. But the indigo nightlight isn't that good. Also if you wear a bracelet or an other item of jewellery on the same wrist the silver coating on the watch rubs off. Which is really disappointing, for a brand that is well known.

Amazing 80's kitsch
Mine arrived yesterday and there's no other word for it but awesome. I'm my late 30's so these things take me back to my youth when I'd browse the Argos catalogue imagining being able to slip such a watch on my wrist. The look on my girlfriend's face when she first saw it however was priceless (don't think she's as big a fan as I am to put it mildly). To be clear though, this is pure 80's cheese. I love catching a glimpse of it's shiny golden awesomness from under my shirt cuff/coat sleeve/etc. I think it would go well with the grey leather jacket Johnny Depp's character wears in the 2nd half of the film blow. Otherwise bracelet doesn't trap as many hairs as I would have imagined (hardly any in fact). Face is easy to read, slim case (so doesn't get caught in shirt cuffs) and waterproof to 30m (i.e. showerproof), so all round a pretty practical watch. As other's have said, no instructions included meaning you have to spend a few seconds working out how to turn on/off the hourly chime. As no-one else seems to have shared how this is done - I believe you press and hold for a second the top right button until you hear a beep. But if you have a bit of nostaligia for the 80 and don't mind people having a strong opinion either way on your watch, get one!
