Nice with One Flaw

This watch is almost perfect. It's a good size, solar (can't beat that0, affordable (ditto), nice strap, keeps good time. But it needs more contrast between the hands, markers and the face. Its hard to read in low light. And the crystal needs some AR coating. Otherwise, a good value.

Not Very Legible

This overall is a nice watch in terms of build quality for the price. I'm returning.this because there is terrible contrast between the dial and the indices. A field watch should be easily readable. This is not. In the marketing pictures, the indices look almost white against the blue dial; they are not. They have an aged look that makes them difficult to read. This is made worse by a very reflective sapphire crystal. If they use any anti-reflective coating, it is not enough. They would have been better off using an acrylic crystal as they do in their Marlin line. I really can't speak to the movement as I decided to return prior to charging the watch (it is solar and arrives uncharged because it was stuck in a dark box for quite awhile. It's possible this deserves fewer stars. I am working from the assumption it works perfectly.

Outstanding value!

The watch defines functionality. Subtle, just the right size, it has a thick leather band that looks to survive significant "wear and tear" opportunities. A NATO band will function well here, too. It is solar powered. Frankly, this is a big reason why I purchased it. Every time a watch gets opened for a battery change is another opportunity for failure. The luminescence is very good to excellent. I need this feature, and am so happy for the attention paid to this feature. It's simplicity allows me to wear this casually and professionally.

I design flaw caused me to return it.

Pros: - Perfect case size. - Sapphire crystal. - Solar powered quartz. - Large dial face - Minute and second hands reach to minute track for precise reading. - Great field watch design and proportions. - Effective lume on hands. Cons: - Lume on small triangular hour markers is useless, and fades quickly. - The hour numbers are not luminous. - The dull peach color chosen for the hour markers, numbers and hands in dim lighting is very dull and thus hard to read. - The dark blue color chosen for the dial is a dull hue that doesn’t really look blue, but just reduces the contrast between text and markers. - A black dial and bright white markers and numbers would make the watch much more legible/ readable, and would look much better aesthetically. It is a shame that these choices were made on an otherwise perfect design. - I was really excited that Timex finally seemed to get it when they came out with this series of models, but then they handicapped it with a dial that is only useable in bright light. What a shame. I am returning the watch.

Disappointed

The product display photo is a poor representation of the actual product. The luminous triangles at each number, and the hour / minute hands are a darker tan than the photo represents; furthermore, their "glow" is very weak and short lived. Additionaly, the numbers are a dark gray (not white as in the display photo) on a black background which makes them very difficult to read in low light.

Hard to read

There’s really not a lot of contrast in the dial. Reading it is kind of a pain. You can get a more full featured watch for less.

Clunker

Stopped working after 8 months. I shipped it to Times customer service with the paperwork and proof of purchase a month ago…..crickets. I do not recommend this watch.
