Repeat buyer
This is my favorite watch, also the 3rd one I have purchased. I am very hard on the watch, it is my work watch and I also swim in the ocean with it on. The crystal gets scratched, the leather band wears out and I just order a new watch.

Pretty good, comfortable, low priced, easy to read watch
This watch is a decent compromise in an era when shopping for a watch is a real pain. Of the half dozen watches I've collected over the years, the non-battery watches need service, currently difficult to arrange, and all the remaining batteries, which I'm not equipped or trained to replace, have run out. I wanted a watch to tide me over through the COVID19 pandemic lockdown. A rechargeable smart watch seemed like a good idea in the circumstances, but I hated the smart watch I tried last month, going crazy gesticulating to wake the dodgy display trigger, so I sent it back. The other smart watches on the market at the time showed distant future delivery dates or outsize prices. Based on experience with an almost identical watch to the one I'm reviewing, this watch will do, with it's always-on analog display, clearly superior in its basic clock-display function to the smart watch. My purchase was intended to duplicate a favorite backup watch, now battery-dead, a low priced Timex Expedition Indiglo, with comfortable leather strap and high contrast between hands and face, for an easy, quick read in low light. Upon delivery, I discovered two minor differences, the strap color and the second hand. This silver second hand is less easy to see in low light than the prior white second hand. It's still visible, just harder to see, much like the silver numbers I had forgotten my old Timex had, which my mostly-functioning good old Seiko automatic doesn't even bother to provide. The bright white dots on the hours and the white hands on dark face are the key to the quick read. I have one other battery-dead Timex Explorer, which I like less, with its NATO-style strap and low contrast tan face behind the white hands; its red second hand stands out in moderate, if not low light. This Timex Explorer's leather strap, though reportedly hard to replace, seems to me the most comfortable of all my watches. For modest, short term use, I can happily recommend this watch, while I suppose we should all start shopping now for that replacement strap, as well as the tool to install it. I already have one on order for the Seiko, a similarly comfortable and scarce green leather strap, on a slow boat from Hong Kong, due sometime next month, ordered on the competing well-known classic American online marketplace. Why four stars on this pretty good watch? The reported strap replacement problem, the silver second hand and one other annoyance: in an era of smart watches and smart phones, having to remember to manually advance the date after a short month, five times a year, is just painfully retro. This watch is good for what it is, but it would be more with less, if Timex ditched the date. If this review seems rambling, that's how an agonizing month of online watch shopping felt, before concluding this watch was the right approach for me, another backup watch. If nothing else, dear reader, you get my sympathy as you shop for a watch in a very muddled market. Good luck!

If looks are as good as reliability and it keeps on ticking .......
The watch arrived ahead of time and looked far better than my expectations. I removed the plastic stopper and set the time and date and everything was set for a long and useful life. Two days later the watch stopped so reset and the watch which refused to run again. I contacted Amazon to report the problem which eventuated in a return request for new product at no cost. No problem! Next is that the return labels are encrypted and cannot be printed and so am now in the process of negotiating with DHL to return the watch. Meanwhile Amazon have resent a new watch which should be here soon. My dealings with Amazon help desk have been very satisfactory and they are backing up their products with top service, for this thanks to the staff I dealt with. The replacement watch arrived well ahead of time and this time is keeping excellent time. The sole beef is the band; it appears to be very substantial leather and very stiff with holes that are just not in the right place for my wrist this means the watch sits off center. Now time will tell if this is a good buy or not. I spend much time on hiking trails and trout fishing and my watches take a beating.

Solid and classy: this is a timepiece that serves with distinction
I was looking for a basic, classic, solid watch that was reasonably priced and durable. After four hours of research, I settled on this watch--and I haven't been disappointed in this first week of ownership. This is, indeed, a timepiece that harks back to the classics and IS a classic. It is solidly built, has beautiful lines and is easy to read. It also has a much lower profile than most of the dive watches that people wear nowadays, which is important to me since I wear long sleeves at work. Big watches tend to fray my cuffs right away. This Expedition slips right under my cuff and works well with whatever outfit I am wearing. I read the extensive reviews left here, and the two (possible) negatives about this watch relate to the leather band and the indiglo function. First, and while it's true that the thick, genuine leather band is stiff and possibly a bit too long if you have an extremely thin wrist, it is of quality, durable construction, and after 4 days of wear is limbering up nicely. I'll keep you posted as to how the leather wears over the coming year(s). I am also looking to get some leather balm to apply to the band for hydration and protection. Also, since I work in an office environment and have a Timex Ironman for my biking/jogging activities, I'm not sure that I'll have the problem some others have noted on here of the leather strap wearing out within two years. Again, I'll keep you posted! Secondly, the indiglo light does light up with the slightest pressure. Just wear your watch a bit higher on your wrist to keep the date/time bezel from rubbing against your hand. Alternately, if your wear a FitBit on your left wrist (like I do), wearing the watch on your right hand fixes that issue. I highly recommend this product. With the purchase of this watch, I'm out of the watch-buying market for a decade--at least!

Analog water resistant watch
Band is short and the date is almost impossible to see if you are use to a digital watch. It is good looking and a quality watch an easy to read in the dark. I would buy again.

loving it
I got this watch for my boyfriend for Christmas 2008. It looks stunning and we both love it. Sadly, the watch started to lose minutes every day after only 5 months. We tried a new battery, but that didn't change anything. I sent the watch back to TIMEX and described the problem. They returned a new watch (with the old straps) and it has been fine ever since.

Tres BBB!!
