MUCH smaller than you may think

I almost returned this after it arrived. However, for the price, it will be quite handy for lifting the back of my zero turn mower. It’s a very tiny jack. In my humble opinion, there is absolutely no way this jack can safely lift anywhere near 8,000 lbs. I wouldn’t trust it with much more than a half ton/1,000 lbs. I’m guessing if they put it under a stress test in a lab environment…maybe it would generate two tons of force, but an end user is rarely in a lab environment. The footprint of this jack both at top and bottom contact points is super tiny. If you want a handy little hack for smaller jobs…it does come in a nice little plastic case and it’s very light (which is nice if you have to carry across a long muddy road) then it’s a solid purchase for the price. If however you needed to lift a ton - let alone four ton - look elsewhere. Someone could get hurt or damage property using a much too tiny jack for loads that heavy. Just my two cents. Easy to use

I actually got this so I could lift my adjustable bed frame up and remove the rug that was under it. Lol. Hey it worked. But now I have an easy to use jack for the car.

Good quality jack

I purchased the Big Red hydraulic bottle jack to change the tires on my golf cart. It was easy to use and raised my golf cart with ease. It’s well-constructed and takes very little storage space in its case.

A good replacement for a not so good device

I purchased one of these to keep in my wife's Jeep Grand Cherokee instead of relying on the dreaded scissor jack of death contraption. It's not fun fiddling with extension poles, trying to align the jack and turn the awkward handle while on the side of the road with a flashlight (usually in the winter). This is small enough to store in the spare tire compartment. I opted for the storage case to keep it from tumbling around. In addition, I keep a small piece of 2x6 in the vehicle to serve as a stable base for those times your using it on dirt on the side of a road. Of course the first thing I did was test it out. These are not magic - you definitely need to know where to position any jack - but that's another topic. I like that the jack has decent travel distance - just over 14". Plus, the lift head (saddle) is adjustable, so you can unscrew it a few inches in order for it to come into contact with the lifting point - this way you know exactly where the pressure will be exerted. It effortlessly lifted the Jeep enough to change a tire. As a side note, these things are relatively inexpensive, so I'd suggest over-sizing it a bit to have plenty of lifting power. I bought a 4 ton for a Jeep that weighs 2.5 tons (remember you're not lifting the entire vehicle weight - just a portion of it). Another thing to check before you order one...Make sure the height of your vehicle will allow this to be placed under the lifting point (remember - a flat tire will cause the vehicle to be even lower). You need about 8" of clearance to position the jack before it's even raised. This is probably best for SUV's. A small downside is the lifting head (saddle) seems a bit small - about an inch in diameter. It doesn't affect functionality, but a bit wider would've made positioning it a little less precise and would distribute the pressure a little more. Mine arrived fine - I assume since I purchased the one with a case. Maybe those that experienced leaking or box damage didn't order it with a case? These are heavy to ship loose in only a cardboard box. Overall, this is a good tool to have in a vehicle. I will add that any temporary jack such as this should not be used if you have to go under the vehicle. I personally would be comfortable using it to change a tire, but nothing more without adding jack stands. I purchased another one for my pickup truck. NOTE: I purchased this item on Amazon for full price and have no affiliation to the seller. I notice many reviews lack helpful information, are not well written or give poor reviews based on not reading directions, inexperience or failing to read the product details prior to purchasing.
