Son with Autism loves this.

My son begged for this on his Christmas list. I wasn't sure if he would use it much. He spent his entire Christmas vacation creating various structures with this pen. Templates are included and can be found online as well. Be sure to order more fillers. And get the correct size re-fills. I ordered the wrong size the first time.

Keeps kids busy for hours!

Great for kids! Easy to use and endless possibilities of what to create. Instructions were thorough and helpful. Bonus that it came with color sticks!

i bought this for my little sister for Christmas. It’s fun and comes with a bunch of colors,but for younger kids you might want to monitor because it gets hot.

Order the correct refill filaments

This was a gift for my grandson. He loves it and has used all the pen filament. The refill filaments I ordered were not the correct ones. I need to know which refills to order for this pen and get them ordered quickly. The pen is amazing and he's enjoyed it a great deal.

Be aware, doesn't use standard printer filament sizes

I bought this, not really for its intended purpose but that made me aware of the fact that it uses a non standard filament size, which I did not notice before I bought it, and I wish I had. I needed to 3D print a large object, and the object would not fit on my 3D printer. I sliced the object up into 8 sections, and then I 3D printed each piece. I then used this, with the exact same filament I used to print the parts, to weld them together to make a single larger part. It actually worked, surprisingly well, except for one thing. This uses a 3mm filament. Standard printer filaments are 1.75 or 2.85. This means standard filament is too small to really be pushed through the way the pen is designed to push it. I was still able to push it through manually but it was really inconvenient. So, if you want to use this with only the filament that comes with the pen, or want to only use it with filament you buy from 3D doodler, then great, this may work great for you. However, there are lots of affordable multicolor filament packs available here on Amazon for 3D pens. They are based on 1.75mm printer filament and will not work with this pen. There are also lots of affordable pens available that work with 1.75mm filament. Just be aware that if you buy this pen, you will not be able to use standard printer filament sizes.

It’s not wireless and too hot, not recommended

I don’t understand why this has to be plugged in and not designed like the 3d doodler starter with built in rechargeable battery and mechanism. Also, this get very hot and will melt through plastic. Doodler pads. Finally, it take forever to be ready and often times have to unplug and plug over and over before green light comes on. I DO NOT RECOMMEND this. It’s 2023, make it more functional. Just buy the starter version instead of create. Also the filament is totally different from starter pack. Thumbs down for this company for making terrible decision on the design and execution.

Works great when you follow the directions

This was a Christmas gift for our 13yo son. I warned him not to start using it before reading the directions thoroughly, but he quickly got it jammed to a point where we could not unjam it. I contacted support and got prompt response and diligent follow-up. They sent us a replacement pen and gave us a few tips on how to avoid similar jams in the future. I'm pretty sure our issue was user error, but they still stood behind their product and helped us figure out what went wrong, and how to avoid it again.

Not sure about this.

I bought it for my daughter, but there is not alot to actually do with it. The items she can make are very brittle. Should come with some sort of silicone mat to use and set this the hot pencil on. The feeder is so-so. Maybe this was not quite what I expected. Shipping was decent, but not sure it is worth the cost of it.

High quality, surprised.

Complete rewrite of original review now that i have experience with this and other pen and printers, this is one of the best pens in quality on the market. However you need to use 2.86mm filament which is less common among printers. They need to have one that can take 1.75mm.

Broke after first use

searched and searched for the best reviewed 3d pen to give as a gift to my artistic niece for Christmas. She used it once and had some fun learning how to use it but when she got it out again to make something the pen would not power on. Plugged it in to charge to no avail. Pen completely died after 1 use. I thought buying the brand name pen would be the better choice but definitely should have went with the way cheaper one that would probably still be working.

Perfect if you keep your expectations low

The pen does exactly what it is supposed to do. I had very low expectations about it and it didn't exceed those. It's sort of fun but results are really deceptive even with practice. Watch some videos first to see what it can do (i.e. very little) but if you have the bucks it will keep you and your kids occupied 2 hours. The satisfaction of making a wonky Eiffel tower with one leg too short for $10 worth of plastic is priceless (should be $0.40 in reality, plastic straw prices are ridiculous). I would have loved it better as a gift... So nice gift I guess.
