Works but not Easily
I bought a returned unit and at first glance it looked perfect, but the two largest holes that mount the upper guard to the saw were stripped, which is apparently easy to do. I was able to get a little bit of a bite on one and through bolt the other since it was right next to the guard stop. The instructions were pretty poor and lacked detail of the disassembly. If you go to Big Foot's website, there is a video that shows what needs to be done.

This adapter will not fit the mag light 2015 and above
I had to send it back because the description was in accurate or false. Bummer because I want this light 10 inch beam saw but it is only applicable in the heavier version.

Great saw kit but has quality issues with baseplate
I bought this kit to convert a HD77 M to the 10-1/4" blade format to cut 4x lumber. Big Foot Tools has a really good kit here and the conversion process is doable by anyone with some mechanical skills. Hardware Sales Inc., the vendor of the kit, sent the package to me and it arrived before the due date. I had to return the saw's base plate because it was warped in two directions, so I could not cut at a 90deg angle. When I got the second base it was flat but the indexing for the bevel adjustment is off. I can get the blade to be perpendicular to the base via a small set screw for the bevel stop, but the bevel index is reading a different number, not zero. It looks like with this saw I will be using squares and protractors to set the ange of cut. Luckily I am not in a production environment so it is no big deal. You do have to permanently modify your saw body to accommodate the action of the lower guard. The boss for the height adjustment lever stud has to be sawed off flush to the body of the saw according to the manufacturer's recommendations, although you could still leave enough of the boss on the saw body to allow a reconvert if you didn't like the kit. I like this kit and I think Big Foot Tools have some interesting and useful products. I would like to recommend this product to people who cut 4x lumber or big stacks of plywood. It will get the job done. If you do order the kit be sure to check all the parts to make sure they are ok and ready to use.

inadequate machining on the Chinese castings
This is very expensive for what you get. There are 3 castings and a couple of nuts and bolts. There is only one important point on the castings that needed to be machined precisely. This is the pivot point of the lower guard. This was very poorly machined. I had to spend at least an hour working on in to get is to move smoothly. The instructions are not at all well done. That being said, once I finally got it put together, it performs as advertised. I'm ripping 3" redwood slabs and it is doing the job.

The Only
If you frame, no reason not to have one. This is my third, first two stolen. Pattern/gang cutting rafters, bulk cutting studs right on the bunk, pre-cut headers, on and on. Used extensively on the new retail/hotel build at Furnace Creek 2018, flawless. Older SkilSaw bodies, US made, seem to have more power, if you can find one. Outstanding customer service from BigFoot in Nevada. Defective blade shipped with kit. Had a replacement in two days, very good.

bigfoot adapter
Wonderful idea. I use the skill 77 so it was a natural choice. Installing is a snap. You will however have to grind off a little tapped nub on the saw casting in order to fit the guard. This should not be a problem for the kind of guy who uses this tool as it seems most of us are pretty handy and it does mention it in the instructions. The quality of this kit is very good and the makers have put a lot of thought into it. It will cut all the way through a treated 4 by 4 but will just barely cut through a rough sawn cedar post. I use it to cut 3 inch notches in large timbers and it is not that much harder to use than the standard 77. I recomend you buy the Freud thin kerf knock out arbor blade as the one they send with it leaves a little to be desired. And yes the blade has the diamond knock out. I have not used the Makita 10" saw as I do not like saws with the blade on the right side of the motor so I have no comparison but this kit does just what I want it to. If you want a big saw I think you'll like this kit. C.

No more flipping 4x's!!!
I've been looking for a 10" beam saw for a while but couldn't find anything that really stood out in the ease of use department. Our company had purchased a Milwaukee 6470 beam saw but cutting is kind of a pain because you have to look over the saw to see the cut line. On a recent job one of the subs had a Bigfoot kit. I tried it out and had to have one. If you use worm drives everything is familiar, you can easily see your cut line, and the saw cuts smoothly with the 10" blade. The kit installed easily on my older Mag-77, be advised that you do have to cut off the lug that holds the stud for the depth adjuster. This wasn't a concern for me as I have another Mag-77 and the saw with the Bigfoot kit will stay converted, but it would take some work if you ever wanted to convert your saw back to using 7 1/4" blades. That aside this is a great conversion kit for your worm drive!

Great for Framers!
Beams have always been an issue, beam saws to big and hard to handle. The worm drive has always been the answer for 4x material but you have to make two passes, often resulting in uneven cuts and on exposed beams not a good look. The answer Big Foot. Not only does the Big Foot cut 4x in one pass, it cuts a very clean one pass, no double cuts. And when plating the walls it cuts both plates in one pass too. I think the what I like most is that is works and handles like a worm drive. On my last framing job I left a girder extend over a shear wall footing that had not been poured to support it until we got the concrete poured. Then because is handles like a worm drive it was easy to trim the girder flush with the end of the floor framing without any issues. I think the Big Foot is a great addition to any tool box.
