Decent pot tray but not perfect

First the obvious: this is meant to be used with the Fiskars 6 Inch Terrapot Taper Planter, so it is not really 6 inch in diameter. At its widest part it is 5.5 and at the bottom only 4.75 inches across. Also, only the color is clay, as it is made of plastic, like the planter that is was meant to be used with. It does the job and it is a good fit for http://www.amazon.com/Fiskars-Terrapot-Taper-Planter-50006C/dp/B000IF3W70 but the fit is a bit too tight, so it does not have much space at all to hold water. While this will prevent the shelf from getting wet from a small amount of water coming out from the bottom holes of the pot, but if your soil does not retain water and runs through the pot then most likely it could overflow it, if you used a little too much water. Another thing to note is that while the small ring in the middle will keep the tray centered provided you use it with the Fiskars 6 inch pot, but it does not snap on or hold onto it in any way, so you have to lift them together. If your pot is heavier due to wet soil or the size of the plant then that can be a little awkward, but it is not too bad as long as your hold it firmly with two hands. The main down-side of this item is the price. The list price is unrealistic at eleven dollars, and even at nearly five dollars it is way overpriced for the relatively thin semi-flexible plastic saucer you get when you already paid about the same for the actual planter pot. Given the small size and a lot less plastic used in it than for the pot itself, my opinion is that is should be around a dollar or maybe two at most, but if you do not have much space on the shelf and you want a matching saucer then you may sacrifice your feelings and buy it for your pot, but to me it seems to be too high for what you get. This would the a good item to sell as multi-pack or to be included with the planter pot, but right now it seems to be only listed to be sold individually. Overall, it is a good match for the Fiskars 6 inch pot, looks nice, it is very light, just be careful when watering and moving it.

The base is 1/2” larger than listed in the description. Be careful - if you are using this in a plant stand it might not fit.

Ordered 13” - tray is labeled 14

It seems the seller noted others’ complaints and might be sending trays that measure more correctly although they are still labeled with the “incorrect” size. I noticed this true size versus labeled size disparity is very common and believe this might be because these trays are designed to fit inside a decorative planter the size that the tray is labeled and the labeled size does not actually indicate the true size of the tray itself. Anyway, I took pics with measurements to help people decide. Again, I ordered the 13” and received a tray labeled 14. The top measures 13” and the bottom measures 11.5”. At this point I wouldn’t know what to expect when ordering!! I ordered the 13” thinking it would be about 1.5” smaller on the bottom judging based on others’ reciews - so it would fit my planter. That was not the case and it won’t fit my planter whatsoever. Oh well...

Good Product

I use these 17.5 inch saucers with my Garden4ever.com 10 Gallon bags. I place the saucers on homemade platters with wheels with 2 inch caster wheels so can easily move them around. Moving them in and out of the sun protects the plants from scorching 100+ degree days. Besides it is never fun picking up 10 Gallon bag of water and dirt. With a little mosquito netting around parameter of the bag and over the saucer I can safely fill it with extra water to keep the water wicking for a day or two. No mess, less watering and more growing.

It's a plant saucer

I didn't use these as saucers. I have two which I made into a large bird feeder and bird bath by drilling four holes into the rim of each and attaching pieces of chain to hang in my tree. I had old ones that became brittle from sun and age, I'm sure these will too after a couple years. I wish they were a little heavier plastic.
