It looks fancier than it is.

Its advertised like nice cherry wood, in reality, it's stained pine which turned out looking like walnut. It has a printed paper background. I really felt disappointed.

Beautifully crafted clock.

The clock was well made and beautiful to look at, but the blue background made it hard to read the time.

very pretty....

But you can't see inside from the sides. You have to be looking straight into the clock. Sides are about 4 inches thick. Not very practical. I thought better from Bulova....

Fits the bill

My living room wall clock finally died. I purchased this one because I liked the look, the action of the gears and the size. I was concerned about the thickness (it's apx 3-4in) and it falling off the wall but no worries. It's secured on a picture hanging hook. The only noise is very faint when the room is quiet. Think this is a good value if you want a wall clock that looks good, functions well and at a good price.

pretty but poorly made

I ordered the Bulova clock. Its a pretty clock. Its not well made. The plastic mechanical gears ( for show only) are quite cheap. One of the gears turned periodically. I returned it, and reordered. The SECOND one, while the gears did turn, they were making a very loud noise! The gear box was hitting the plastic casing. I loosened the screws that held the box down and the noise disappeared. This is NOT a fix. Simply a piece of junk.

Confusing pointers on both ends of minute hand

This clock was given out to employees as a work perk. Yes, the gears do grind a bit, but to me that adds to the realism of the clock. Main issue for me, the minute hand has a very large, pointed tail that's wider and barely shorter than the pointer on the hour hand. When the two are close together, it's hard to tell which is which. Reading it wrong can mess up your schedule. Personally, I got one of those tiny, tiny philips screwdrivers and carefully took off the back (many tiny screws and tiny wedges used to stabilize the clock). Then I painted the arrows on the minute and hour hands red. It looks good and I can definitely tell which is which and where they are. I love the clock after these revisions, but not many people are up for that sort of thing and they shouldn't expect to have to do it. Still, love the clock now.

Big mistake!

Nice, but impossible to read and noisy.

Concept is nice. Looks well made and keeps time. The gear function runs off a separate C battery and is noisy. The background almost makes it impossible to see them moving in most light or unless you are right in front of it, so really it is just novelty and not worth it at all. The hands are impossible to see unless you are in really bright light and close to it, so unless you want it on your deck in front of you, it is practically useless. Poor spend on our part. Should have sent it back right away.

Noisy !

Overall the look was nice but it was WAY too noisy to be used. Returned...shame really. We could hear it outside the the room. Kind of a grinding sound.

Las manecillas pudieran ser más grandes..

El producto posee una calidad regular, el diseño de la caratula con el movimiento de los engranajes es bonito y no emite un sonido muy alto en mi opinión. El único pero por el cual no le doy 5 estrellas es que las manecillas pudieran ser un poco más grandes pues de una distancia de unos 6 metros o mayor, es difícil distinguir la manecilla de la hora. Fuera de ese detalle, estoy bastante satisfecho con el producto.
