Love the NOAA weather radio!!!
The media could not be loaded. This unit works great right out of the box. Paid $77 in April 2023 for the unit without the magnet mount antenna. I really like there are 10 weather channels, I pick up 2 of them in NE Atlanta, GA. The scan feature works really great in conjunction with the adjustable squelch. It takes 9 AA batteries or use the included 12v adapter. It also has a nifty button that lets you cycle between Ch 9, 19 and back to all channels. The backlight is pleasing to the eye, and there is a side light button that lets you engage the light after it cycles off. Lots of odd negative reviews written by people claiming they wasted their money on a dead on arrival unit, but Amazon offers free returns on this so what are they crying about ? I have an external magnetic mount full whip antenna that with an adapter really hauls in CB’s from far away, but when I’m on trips I prefer using the included rubber ducky antenna to listen in on truckers I know are in my immediate vicinity. The portability of this thing is great and I can’t reiterate enough how incredible the NOAA weather radio is. What’s also strange to me is the stripped down version of this without the radio scan feature and without the NOAA weather radio is sold at LOVE’s truck stops for $69. Why would anyone want that version ? Why doesn’t LOVE’s carry this version ? This is a real winner for the price and portability and truthfully I’d pay the $77 just to have the NOAA feature only, the fact I also get a functional 40 channel CB with the ability to transmit at 4 watts is unreal.

Pretty amazing little radio for a handheld.
Often I use this at work because I am in and out of different vehicles all the time and it does great for communicating with Co workers on mobile CB's. Well worth the price!

Ok
I like that is portable. Not much on range over priced. Has a lot of static. I would say 30$ would be a good price. My two way midlands get more range and there small with less antenna

disappointing performance
The radio appears well built and designed when it arrived. Being an avid SWL listener I got it to listen to the truckers on the interstate but when powered up with an AC adapter the noise level was over 7 to 8 on the signal meter and I never received a single signal. I switched to battery and the noise level dropped to less than 1 on the signal meter but still no signals. For comparison I tried my Tecsun PL-660 with a 5 foot wire plugged into the antenna jack and got a fair amount of traffic.Replaced the stock antenna with a 1.5 dbi antenna ant the radio came to life but the sensitivity was slightly less than the PL-660. With the 1.5 dbi antenna on the PL-660 it totally outperformed th HH-50 on receive which tells me the radio is hard of hearing when a portable SW radio can totally out perform on reception. For transmission I was unable to find any local people to respond. As a whole with the 2800 mah is does work and I am able to listen to the truckers about 2 miles away. With a good antenna it seems to perform satisfactory. Since the glory days of CB are oer there are much less on the bands and harder to find anyone.

Breaker breaker you got your ears on?
Not with this guy you don’t. I wanted a nice easy hand held for when I am in my four wheeler. This doesn’t have the power would have to do a better antenna and if you do that it looses portability, there is better options out there.

Okay for emergency use
The Weather Channel included is nice. The LCD screen has a very bright blue light which I like. Only one big problem the antenna is total garbage . Right off the bat I was receiving extremely bad interference. To the point where no matter if I brought up or down squelch knob. The interference will stay. but I figure something is interfering with the radio in my sister house because the same thing happening with a mobile cb radio I have. I attempted to fix the antenna. But that just made it worse I wrapped antenna in tin foil place the rubber covering back that help . But if you cover this copper coil it has it will stop the radio from transmitting. No tin foil on the copper coil and it will transmit perfectly fine. But after all that. I did not hear anyone on any channel. And let me tell you a couple of people in my area have CB base station. They are always on constantly channel 15. I have talked to them couple time with my mobile was not receiving interference. I am not sure if this is done on purpose by the manufacturer but the antenna don't work as intended. I read someone in here said they analyzed antenna and it was a it was reaching 30 megahertz which was out of range for CB. If you buy this CB walkie-talkie I recommend you buy another CB walkie talkies antenna with the BNC connector. I bought one haven't received it hopefully it will work.
