It fits and does the job
Like many I am concerned to liberate the frogs who end up in my pool skimmer. I have a Hayward brand skimmer and the 10" round is designed to fit. Ignore the comments in another review that both the 10" and 9" measure 9" - that is not correct. My 10" has an outside diameter of 9 7/8" and an internal diameter of 8 3/8" which means the internal part fits neatly into the Hayward skimmer. [These dimensions and those for the other models can be found on Critter Skimmers website] The ramp reaches down into the Skimmer - my water level is reasonably low and the ramp still descends about 2" into the water, with what is described as the "Lilly Pad" sitting in the water. Unlike the Hayward skimmer cover it replaces the cover sits on top of the base, rather than fitting inside the base fitting. This means there is a small lip above ground which could conceivably be a tripping hazard if in a walkway, which in my case it is not. I assume it sits above to accommodate various size skimmers and I am not troubled by it. The fitting itself is sturdy and solid plastic, if anything a little more sturdy than the Hayward cover it replaces. I have gone from finding two to three frogs per week to none, so it seems to offer an escape route to the frogs and thus does the job. Update June 2015 - Still working well and the plastic cover still looks good. Last summer my granddaughter asked to see how it worked, and as we lifted it out a small frog leapt from the "Lilly Pad" onto the pool deck. I have had no dead frogs in the skimmers since installing it. Update November 2017 - Still going strong - zero dead frogs and the skimmer still looks good. I remove the ramp over winter when the pool is closed but the cover has been outdoors for four years and still looks good!!

A better frog saver
I had two of the other frog savers that floated on top of the pool, but a frog would have to get pretty lucky to catch on to that. So we were still saving frogs from the skimmer. Since we have had these we have not had any frogs to save. In a large pool they are going to end up in the skimmer so now they have an escape route. Good job to the inventor.

Extenda ramp needed, but isn't an option thru Amazon
This critter saving ramp looks very nice and appears that it will do the job, except I need a longer ramp. The original ramp does not reach the water in my skimmer. The only place I can see to get the extenda ramp is through the Critter Skimmer site. I wish it was an option when I purchased this from Amazon.

Critter Skimmer saves lives!
I was so sad every day cleaning out my pool skimmer, having to remove at least one dead frog or lizard a day. I have had the Critter Skimmer in place for about seven months now and have only had one frog fatality during that time. I feel much better knowing that wildlife that ends up in the pool has a fighting chance for survival and that my family is not swimming in water that had a dead frog in it all night. I think this should be the standard skimmer cover on all pools.

No Critters!
We have had an ongoing problem of chipmunks, geckos, frogs etc. becoming trapped in our skimmer basket. This has given them a way out! We couldn’t be happier.

Saved my first frog today!
Seems silly but this makes the extra expense worth it! I always hated finding dead critters in my skimmer basket. Poor things didn't have a fighting chance. Today that all changed! Little guy was holding on for dear life but at least he was alive and non the worse for wear after lifting him out!

Awesome Invention
This was our first summer owning a pool. There is a small creek behind our home and we had no idea how many frogs we'd be seeing each day. Our first "frog saving" device is a great weighted lily pad that sits on the surface, allowing frogs to climb out. Unfortunately we were still getting frogs in the skimmers, sometimes unable to save their lives. This product has changed everything! Our skimmer frogs can now escape on a fancy spiral staircase. Highly recommend.

Great idea in theory
In theory this is an awesome idea. In actuality you need highly trained/intelligent frogs in your pool for this to really work well. I purchased this over the FrogLog for aesthetic reasons. It's obviously a lot more attractive. But the frogs don't quite know how to hop up the little "spiral staircase" (as I call it) to escape my skimmer basket. To be fair, for all I know while I'm at work the frogs could be going for a swim and then hopping up and out of my pool via this skimmer cover. I do not believe this is the case though because every day I come home from work to find 6-8 different frogs still in my pool, clinging to the cement wall where they can. We live very close to a murky part of a bigger lake, so the frog population is high. IMO I wish I would have just purchased the ugly FrogLog to begin with because I feel as though it would be more effective. Maybe a suggestion for this product would be to widen the "spiral staircase" by just a touch, and widen the opening on top of the cover to allow for the fatty frogs to escape. It might be easier for them all to use if that were to happen.
