Does the job
A device that is a little more complex than it seems, and not idiot-proof to install or use. However, it does the exact job it says it will do. I used this to hang an adult bike from a 12-foot ceiling, where it hung without incident for (unfortunately) 8 months. There is a LOT of rope included, and most of it isn't really necessary even for that height. It does have a locking feature too that I appreciated; it's not strictly necessary to tie off the free end of the rope.

Ordering my second one
Ordered one of these a couple of months ago after some concern with some of the reviews. After installing and using for about two months I just ordered a second on for another bike. Comments are: Like others have said, the rope that comes with it is not of great quality. I will have to replace it before long. On the other hand they give you plenty of rope for a high garage ceiling. Our ceiling is about 10-1/2' and I had rope left over. Unlike some comments I had no problem at all with the screws. I did pre-drill the holes using a bit about equal to the minor diameter of the thread and they went right in with help from a little paraffin. The lifting hooks are a one size fits all arrangement. They fit the handle bars of my road bike just fine, but I had to improvise a bit to fit the seat, but it worked. If you have a bag mounted beneath your seat you might have to use the rear hooks on the front of the seat or both on one side. BTW - they are tempered steel and not that easy to bend. Operation couldn't not be simpler. There might be a slight tendency to lift one end or the other but slight hand pressure on a tire levels things out. The clutch that keeps the rope from pulling back through during lifting seems to work well. For the money this lift system works just fine. I did subtract a star for the flimsy rope - they coulda' done better.

Excellent Bike Hoist.
I chose this particular hoist for two reasons. First, the mounting screws are in line with the pulleys making it easier to get the screws into the joists. Most other hoists have the screws on the sides of the pulleys which, in my opinion, would make it more likely that the screws would end up on either side of the joists. Second, the hooks appeared to have more curvature thus providing a better grip on the bike. Regarding the screws: I pre-drilled holes as directed and applied silicone grease to the threads but the screwdriver started slipping. I applied a tiny bit of a product called EZ GRIP to the screwdriver and had no further problems. EZ GRIP greatly increases the friction grip of screwdrivers and wrenches and should be in every shop. My bike seat has very little to hook into on the underside so I elected to hook onto the luggage carrier instead. Without a luggage carrier, I think hooking onto the rear wheel would work just as well. I found the rope to be better quality than expected, and way longer than needed for my 9' ceiling.

Fairly easy to install and use.
I had to install four of these in the ceiling of my garage. Installation was fairly straight-forward. Getting the bikes up and down is a little finicky, but since I dont need to access my bikes every day, I can live with this. For instance, some of my bikes dont have kick-stands, so getting both front and back hooks on the bike, while keeping the bike upright and one hand on the rope quickly makes you realize that you need 2 more hands (or a helper). I've had the bikes up for about 2 months now and no failures. The build quality of the metal parts seem adequate, and the included rope is serviceable. I would say that the quality of the rope is less than I would have hoped as it is stretchy and fairly cheap. Again, since I dont need to access my bikes frequently, this is not such a big issue, but I suspect that under heavy use, the rope will need to be replaced. BTW, they give you plenty of rope!

Review is for the hoist - excellent product
There's several items under this listing and this review is for the hoist. I usually don't care enough to write reviews. However, this product excellent. It's exactly as described, good value for the money and easy to install. Has completely opened up garage space. Once the ceiling joist were identified, I attached one inch boards across the span where I wanted to hang the bikes. Needed this because the joists ran perpendicular to how I wanted to hang the bikes. If the joists run in the same direction as the system runs, that is not needed. I now have four bikes hanging from the ceiling. I recommend making sure you measure the distance apart on your bike (or other item) you want to attach the hooks as that will serve as the center point to attach the screw on the pulley component -- each hook will hang directly beneath those screws. For the bikes, I found that the pulleys needed to be spaced about 30-32 inches. I also offset the second adjacent set by about ten inches and kept them about 16 inches apart. This creates enough space so that adjacent bikes do not hit against each other.

Pretty good pulley system to hang your bike
I followed the advice of others and bought longer wood screws. The seat hook can be tenuous. My workaround was to lasso a short bungee around the seat, then hook it to the seat hook. If the seat hooks slipped, the bungee would still catch the seat and keep the back end of the bike from falling down. The mechanism to release the pulley is straightforward once you learn that it needs to be pulled directly vertically. While the system did not always raise or lower the front and back ends of the bike symmetrically, it was not difficult to correct. In the end, the system was relatively low cost and functions as desired. After installing my first system, I did buy three more.

Weight capacity is 50 instead of 100 pounds
Works fine, fairly easy installation. Only disappointing thing about this order is that I specifically ordered it for it's 100 pound weight capacity as stated in the online description. When I received the product the box states that the weight capacity is 50 instead of 100 pounds. I needed it right away for a 70 pound 2 person kayak, seems to work fine. Just don't like the thought that I'm using it to carry more weight than it's intended for. If I would have had the time to return it I would have.

6 months later, it snapped
I bought this to hoist my Thule XL up to the garage ceiling. The tile might be long but it's not heavy, certainly not anywhere close to 100lbs. The mechanism wasn't working very smooth for something that large but still worked. Then one day one of the plastic part snapped and the Thule came down crashing from the 10 feet ceiling. I am sure it's fine for smaller stuff under 30lbs or 40lbs but can't recommend the product beyond that.

horrible customer service ...essential piece missing
The double pulley was missing one of the pulleys. We contacted the company who said to log it on their help desk. We did that and despite us following up, there has been nothing from the vendor. Very disappointed. Would not work with this vendor again.

Works great
Works great. It is a two person job when getting bigger items, like a kayak, ready to be lifted. The straps around my kayak could have been tightened and it could have been raised closer to the ceiling. I am pleased with this product. It hasn’t fallen down. It is effortless to raise up and down.

Kayak slips out of that straps they should be rubber
I use it for my kayak . The straps aren’t rubber so the kayak split out of it not good. I bought rubber ones and it works good.
