Easy
I connected this to a 4" black corrugated pipe that's connected to a down shout. It was a tight fit but worked. During a recent rainfall I checked and it was partially extended but not far enough to drain. I stretched it out and it started draining and retracted once it drained.

The end came off.
During our first rain both (I have two) extenders came off. It was a good rain, but I am looking for a solution for the ends coming off. The plastic ends are suppose to hold the rubber ends. Is there something I can add to keep that parts on? Thanks

Works well, no more erosion - two minor installation issues
2/27/22 - Update - the product has been working as advertised with one concern. If you have leaves or other debris coming down through your drain pipe it will quickly collect and clog the small drain holes in the body of the sleeve. You can "unroll" the unit and remove the slide on clip at the end to empty the sleeve out. This drain hole is relatively small and doesn't allow for efficient drainage (especially with leaves) so I wound up removing the sleeve and using a hose to wash the sleeve out. This worked fine. Obviously I had to reattach the sleeve with new tie wraps (not an issue) and if I only have to do this a couple of times a year I'll be fine with the product. I will update this review in 6 months. Initial Review - First, the product works as described, i.e., extends to drain the water away and retracts when empty. My issues are 1) my drains are approx. 4" x 3" and I couldn't use the foam adhesive provide for the installation. Not an issue, I just tie wrapped the extender to the drain. 2) the tie wraps they provide are very low quality. You need to provide your own and I'd recommend using two bands of tie wraps to ensure a secure fitting. Otherwise the product works fine. Depending on how much it rains in your area you may want to consider adding a few more holes in the body of the sleeve to help with the draining. In Florida, it can really rain hard at times.

NOT FOR PLACES THAT FREEZE
I don't know how the product actually works because it is winter here and it says not to use it if the weather is freezing. I definitely would not have purchased this product if I had known that important piece of information.

Great idea, but..
I recently purchased the Frost King Automatic Plastic Drain Away Downspout Extender and was extremely disappointed with its performance. The product claims to automatically extend and retract as needed to divert rainwater away from the foundation of my home, but in reality, it failed to do so consistently. First of all, the installation process was difficult and time-consuming. The instructions were confusing, and it required more effort than I anticipated to get it attached to my downspout properly. But even worse than that, the product did not function as advertised. The extender did not extend and retract automatically, even during heavy rainfalls, leaving water pooling near my home's foundation. Overall, I was extremely disappointed with the Downspout Extender. It was difficult to install, did not function as advertised, and did not hold up well over time. I would not recommend this product to anyone looking for a reliable solution.

Good but...
Great idea but even when secured with the provided strap it still comes off the downspout. Other than that it works as designed.

Ok
It works OK but always has water left in it

Works best in warm weather
I think this will do a good job of draining rain water on an above zero day but when the temperature dips, as it does in Canada, then the water inside freezes and does not drain away leaving a lump of ice on the inside. Not really suited to a Canadian winter where we get occasional days above zero.

Not useful
I had to take these off my downspouts. They only roll out about half way, even in a downpour. Then the downspout backs up and water starts gushing out wherever there is a connection in the downspout. Not worth the money.

Nope. Don’t do it.
We bought 2 and neither works. These do not unravel, but instead stay wrapped up, or just twist, which causes problems. They slip off the spout, and the zip tie they came with has proven to be ineffective and poor quality. I haven’t gotten down and officially measured them, but I can’t believe they’re the length they claim. If they are, I feel j would need another 2 feet! It is one of the worst products I’ve bought on Amazon.

Does not roll out
The force required to roll this drain out requires more than a 4 foot standing column of water in your vertical down pipe. As soon as the water level goes below that, it rolls back-up. Thus most of the water leaks out around the collar over time, draining at the base of the down pipe exactly where you want to avoid. I took the springs out and re-arched them, which helps, but by the time you get them so it rolls out properly, with a perhaps a few quarts of water, it does not readily roll-up when dry. I kick mine after a rain, and it rolls-up and I figure that is about the happiest compromise I'm going to get. Frost king should have measured the force required to extend this and calculated the weight of water in a down pipe required to roll it out. They must not have, or at least not have for a standard 2X3 inch home down-spout. Do not buy unless you are very handy at modifications.

Works well to stop eaves trough overflow
In heavy rain the plastic drain worked well to disperse water from the upper roof downspout to prevent an over flow of the gutter on the lower roof. Was easy to install and appears to be retracting properly after a rain. Could only find these retractable drains in green until I found this one on amazon to match my brown shingles.
