Flimsy, but fast and won’t boil dry!
My stove runs on propane, so I picked up this kettle (the Hamilton Beach 41038) to make tea without using a ton of propane, and it definitely does the job in that regard. With only enough water in for one cup, it boils before the water in my teapot in the stove has even reached lukewarm. And the auto-shutoff and boil-dry protection features give me peace of mind, knowing that the kettle won't overheat or damage if it's left on by mistake—something my teenage son does with the stovetop kettle at least once a week. One of the best things about this kettle is its size. It's perfect for small apartments or dorm rooms, and the cordless design makes it easy to move around. This is great because the aforementioned son will be taking it off to college with him in September, and his dorm space is limited, The water level indicator is clear and easy to read, and the lid opens wide for easy filling. While there are many positives to this kettle, there are a few negatives to consider. The kettle is not insulated, so the outside gets hot to the touch. Also, it feels a bit flimsy. But the oddest thing about it is that it’s wobbly in the base. As others have mentioned, it doesn’t click on to the base, but even worse is that mine doesn’t quite sit firmly in the base, so it teeters. Still, I’m glad I got it and feel it’s safe enough to be packed up for college. It’s affordable, compact, and has useful safety features that make it a great value.

Nice inexpensive electric kettle
If you frequently need to boil water quickly (tea, pour over coffee, etc.), this will get the job done. It's about as simple as it gets - you put in the water, set it on the base, flip the switch, and wait for it to shut itself back off. Starting with cold (62°F) water, it takes a little over 8 minutes (timed as pressing the button down until it shuts itself off) to boil the max fill of 1.7L, and about 2:40 to boil 0.5L. The only downside is that it feels a little flimsy, especially the base. It doesn't seem to settle into the base with any sort of positive feedback, and may even skew a little due to loose tolerances between the two parts. The base has little weight to it and sometimes tries to lift up along with the kettle. None of this is surprising at this price point, and most folks won't be bothered by it after a few uses. I'm looking forward to no longer needing to microwave cups of water for tea, or deal with a kettle on the stove that takes forever. Very quick!
This is a little confusing at first because the base that plugs in is packaged within the container. Efficient, but was confusing at first. It also feels like very thin plastic. It doesn't have any weight to it, so when it sits on the base, it wobbles and doesn't stay put very well. This isn't an issue when there's water in it, but it's kind of annoying when there's not. It does heat up the water really really fast, which is very nice. It also has measuring points on the clear spot, which is also very helpful. It would have been nice if they included multiple measurements and some more detail and in black, but it's nice that it's there still. Once it's done heating up the water, the lever stops itself, which is quite nice, so you don't have to worry about turning it off yourself. It also comes with a water filter, which is probably my favorite part. It is bigger than the portable kettles, but still smaller than some of the larger ones you can get. I still think it's pretty good, though.

Electric Tea Kettle
This tea kettle did heat my water super fast, easily less than 5 minutes. It is light weight, made of plastic, and honestly, it feels a little cheap. I do really enjoy how fast it heats, much faster than waiting on a kettle to boil on the stove. However, I am just not comfortable consuming boiled water out of a plastic kettle. I didn’t realize when I ordered that the interior where the water boils is also plastic. I would much rather spend more money and get one with a stainless steel interior. I will use this plastic one to boil water to seal hair when doing braids, but I’m just not comfortable using it for drinking.

no more coffee taste
Like most people we have a single cup brewer at work, while it is great for us coffee drinkers, the girls are not happy that their tea water has a slight coffee taste. So we got the hot water kettle and now everyone is getting the desired taste from their tea. Easy to use and satisfying the ladies!

Great for heating up water!
This electric kettle is so easy to use; just flip down the switch and walk away, it will boil water quickly without complicated controls. You'll always know when the kettle is on since the illuminated power switch turns off after water boils. It has a window with metallic trim, so you can view how much water is in it through the window, you'll always know how much water is in the kettle or how much water you're adding when refilling. With the cord-free design, you simply lift the kettle from the base for easy pouring and when you're done pouring, just place the kettle back on the base. This makes for a great back-up kettle if you already have one. It's great for a college dorm, as well.

Does the job
This Hamilton Beach 41038 Electric Tea Kettle is not bad. It heats up the water quickly and efficiently. The material is a bit weak though. I would say this is a good starter kettle but not one that will be long lasting as the materials it is made with are a bit cheap and maleable

Very Simple, but it does the job
It’s a very simple kettle. It weights close to nothing. That causes the base to move around because the cable is heavier, I think. That’s the only minus. The cable isn’t easy to hide. But other than that it boils water very fast and that’s what I needed. Thank you.
