Nice feeder for the price
I did a search for grackle-proof feeders and this one came up in the search. But it is not grackle-proof. The grackles are voracious eaters and empty my bird feeders in a day. I have been trying desperately to find one they could not get at. I've tried so many, I don't think anyone makes a feeder that is completely grackle-proof. They are very clever birds and figure any feeder out quickly. But the other birds like it too, so I'm going to continue using it.

Defective!
I've only had this feeder a short time and it basically malfunctioned after only a couple of uses. The top did not stay screwed into the mechanism that raises and lowers the top to fill the feeder. There is no reason to screw or unscrew the top, it just didn't stay secure and when the feeder dropped away from the top, the plastic inside the feeder (which holds the seed) cracked and broke to the point that the feeder is no longer useable. I thought that paying a little extra for a better feeder would help keep the birds and me happy over the winter, but this feeder was the wrong choice.

Great Bird Feeder - Not Nuisance Bird Proof.
This is a good, quality bird feeder. I purchased another Heath Outdoor Brand bird feeder (tube feeder). Both bird feeders are very good quality and value. I am not marking the bird feeder down for this, but it did not solve the problem I was having. Nuisance birds (grackles I think) bullied the smaller birds and wasted the bird seed by constantly flicking bird seed on the ground where they (and their buddies) could party on (along with the squirrels). It did take a couple of days to for the bully birds to figure it out, but they are persistent characters. We are equal-opportunity bird lovers by nature. It may sound ridiculous, but I want the birds to share :D.

Hard to clean
Worked very well to keep squirrels out, but the feeder was hard to clean as the tube does not come out.

To small of an opening for the birds AND
It was hard to clean and the birds did not like it. The squares were too small and the center dispenser was to far for them to reach without entering. Returned the product .

Junk report.
A piece of junk. Came with no instructions, 1 small part missing. This has got to be one of the most useless things I have ever purchased on line.
