Read This First!
I have had numerous swamp coolers over the years and after buying this unit and reading most of the reviews here, let me summarize the key points and respond to some of the complaints... I’m pretty sure the guy who complained about the fan and motor missing probably got a unit someone had returned. This has happened to me numerous times with Amazon. Yes, it’s frustrating but Amazon is great about correcting this by letting you return the unit or exchange it. They also run interference with the manufacturers to get you help, if need be. That’s what I like the most about Amazon Prime. Free shipping, free returns, customer service. Some of these bad reviews are 5 years old. There have been improvements to the design, from some of the reviews I read. ‘It’s plastic’. Yes, it’s primarily all roto-molded plastic. Every unit I have found elsewhere in this price range is also mostly plastic. Until you get into the $4-500- range, most are all plastic and even the more expensive ones have a lot of plastic and plastic parts. Every metal one I have had has started rusting somewhere from day one. They are heavy to move around. So, plastic. With this administrations attack on oil, plastic is getting expensive, like everything else. Gas prices go up? Plastic goes up. When parts fail, they are also less expensive to replace. The first, most likely, mechanical part that fails is the pump. Swamp cooler pumps are super cheap and easy to find and replace. If you get 2-3 years out of yours, good deal. Keep the unit out of the direct sun, store it indoors during the winter. Wide and extreme temperature swings wreak havoc on plastic. When u get the unit, open it up immediately and check for damage. Don’t wait until the first hot day to open the box and be surprised that something is amiss. You’ll be mad AND hot ????. If it looks good, plug it in and briefly check everything works before filling with water. Open the box upside down. Then u can easily access the panel hiding the wheels and parts, screw the wheels in and then turn it right side up ⬆️ and lift the box away. Keep the box. Cut the bottom flaps off before you turn it right side up and now your empty box can be used as a cover. You can also use a large plastic trash bag over the box to keep it dry and hide it from thieves. VS the $40.00 nice cloth one they sell with Hessaire emblazoned on it. Flatten the box and it stores easily. When u put the wheels on, do not over tighten them and strip the plastic out. If you do, go to hardware store and get the next largest size screw and it will be fine. Open the back panel, look inside and make sure everything looks ok. Give a little tug on on the wire connections and the media, pump and hoses, etc... Stuff comes loose during shipping. Look for cracks where leaks might form. Make sure the float arm moves freely and is not hitting the media. If it is, cut a little of the media away so it can move freely. All swamp coolers of significant size are noisy at highest settings. This one is no different. At low and 6-10 feet from me it’s entirely acceptable and I can have a normal conversation and hear my music playing. Same on high at 20 feet away. If your concerned about hard water there are inexpensive anti scaling dry tablets and wet solutions to add to your tank water. These will make your media last longer. Smell. Yes, at start up you will detect a discernible smell from the media as it gets wet but like others have said it goes away quickly. However, within a few days you may begin to smell a different funk emitted. A teaspoon of bleach or some bactericide for humidifiers solves that. Oil and water do not mix so I’m not a fan of putting essential oils in my humidifier. There are fragrant solutions made for that purpose, however. Keep in mind, people, like me, may be turned off or sensitive to smells. I hate the smell of vanilla and lavender scents. So, if company is coming or you use in a business environment, you might consider that. When your media wears out, buy synthetic media for replacement. Lasts longer, less smell, drys out more quickly when unit is turned off so bacteria is less likely to form. Dump a bag of ice into the tank before filling for parties or personal pleasure and it makes a huge difference. Put a pressure reducer on the garden hose if your going to use that feature for continuous fill. They are only about $5- at Home Depot. You will find them in the plumbing drip irrigation section. This way you don’t have to fiddle with the hose bib to get the flow you want and the tank will fill slower and cause less splashing ???? which hits the fan and gets expelled onto you if you have really high water pressure. Hope some of this helps others...

Love this thing!
This is a great portable cooler. I debated whether to get a whole home cooler or just a portable cooler. I’m glad I went this route as many reviews had varying ratings. Here’s my situation which may help others decide. I have a 2 story home. The upstairs is approximately 900 sq ft and is basically an open floor plan loft which has a bedroom, bathroom, and livingroom area. The downstairs is about 2200 sq ft that has the livingroom and kitchen centrally located with other rooms located around this central location. I explain this because I get great circulation in my home due to the layout. I live in SW Colorado and our typical humidity in the summer season is under 20% and most of my home never gets direct sun for too long in one location. Due to this, my home rarely gets warm until about 3-4pm in the west side. And it’s only gets a bit warm for me until about 8-9pm when the heat breaks due to the sun setting. So with that info, I bought the unit for approximately 900 sq ft. I placed my unit in the western most room and have it facing at an angle towards my centrally located rooms which is the livingroom and kitchen. On Low Setting, this thing easily knocks the heat out on the main floor. I’ve not had to use the Medium or High Settings what-so-ever even in mid to high 90s. I run a window fan upstairs to just pull heat out of the upstairs, run my ceiling fans (2) per normal, and typically I don’t have to open up any windows downstairs. While it’s recommended to run in front of an open door or window, I never do. When it begins to cool off in the evening, I may or may not open up a window while this thing is running. Due to how dry it is out here, typically I do not get any mugginess in the home from running as I do. Your situation may differ depending on humidity. Installation of the wheels was a breeze. The only thing I’d suggest is DO NOT use power tools such as a drill driver and DO NOT over tighten the screws for the wheels. I just hand tightened to snug and had zero issues with stripping out the plastic. You just have to take care. My wheels were loose within the box as the plastic storage cover was not securely screwed down. It was a non-issue for me and I didn’t have to build any wood base. The only real issue I had was the whole thing is molded plastic and my water storage section has a small area that is a tad warped. It was also a non-issue for me. As for loudness... I can hear my tv just fine with it on Low and I’m sure would hear everything just fine on the other settings. When I set a box fan next to it, I can hear the box fan on low over the cooler to give ya an idea. The only part that I find a bit annoying is the oscillating setting. It sounds like plastic rubbing on plastic with just little creaks. I’m sure a little Teflon spray, chain wax spray, or even a little WD-40 could curb that, but I don’t bother with the setting. All in all this is a great cooler and I waited to pick it up when it had a price reduction. It cools pretty much my entire downstairs, with the central house receiving the most benefit and the hallway and rooms that the breeze is directed towards in my home. I’d say it easily knocks the home temp into the mid to low 70s for about 1500 of the almost 2200 square feet I have in the main level and that’s on low. The remaining 700 sq ft is cooler, but not as noticeable. It could be if I ran it on the other settings, but no one is in those rooms or upstairs until after 9pm and my house is opened up at that point since I get temp drops of 25-30+ degrees when that sun sets. If you have my situation, this thing will easily cool your main level of your home beyond it’s minimums depending on your situation. I’ll end this review with this thought, just take into consideration your home layout, your typical humidity, the rooms that actually need cooling during the times it’s uncomfortable for you. Each situation is different. My cooler usually only gets run on 85+ degree days for about 4-6 hours, due to my locale. Once the outside temp drops into the 70s, my home gets opened up. Your situation may vary.

Better than a misting system
Like all online purchases, you're never sure what to expect. My wife never liked the high pressure misting system I paid over $4,000 dollars for, as she said it made everything extremely damp, and even wet. I have this outside in Phoenix in a small canopy gazebo bed. It works perfectly until the Summer monsoon kicks in July and August, and even then it makes it more comfortable after getting out of the pool by circulating air. Well worth the price, and it has admirably replaced my $4,000 misting system.

Works just wish…
Works good just wish it had a thicker single pad so it could cool the air a little better. We installed a new cooler for the garage (as you can see my greasy finger prints on the cooler) and went from a 8” pad to a 12” pad. And I swear the air fills cooler but this could be a placebo!? Helps a lot in the Hot AZ summer to be able to work in the garage other than August…

Does exactly what we needed
We use this to keep our garage cool in the summer. It is much lighter, quieter and easier to move around than the metal cooler it replaced, which rusted out. This one won't rust.

Works Great!
It's got some noise and uses a fair amount of water per usage, but overall I am very pleased with how it cools! My only beef is that there is no shut off when the water runs out and therefore cannot be used at night. I wish I had know this and would have purchased the other model. I find the directions are lacking, and they need to be more specific on how it is used for indoors. We didn't realize you needed to use it with an open window and the house got so humid it was like a swamp, LOL! Then I had to do some research online and re-read the minimal instructions before I understood how to use it properly. ;)

Evaporative pads
Love this monster but Beware. You cannot get the replacement pads here in Canada. I contacted the Hessaire people who said to go to Home Depot or Amazon. Could not order from HD in Canada and Amazon did not have them. They had similar ones for $197.00! Finally found a friend in the states who could buy them for $39.00.

Its an amazing product. I am a happy momma
It came to me so fast that made me happy. I live in housing and we are not aloud to have air conditioners. So I bought this it keeps me and my kids cool. I fill ot once a day with my hose and turn it off at night. Its so much healthier and more economical then an air conditioner. I will have this for years to come as it is deffinately a quality product. Thank you. I'm all about quality and economical products and this fits both those. From a mom in Canada.
