Great replacement burner

Great replacement burner for our patio heater. The base of it is tapered and narrower than our original patio post, so had to shim it to make it fit. It would be nice if there were some kind of adapter included. Also, lighting it is a bit different than our original where you hold the pilot light button while you click the starter. On this one it isn't obvious that the pilot is lit (even when it is) until you take it on faith and turn the gas dial, then the flames pops on. Overall I'm happy though, it was much cheaper and less wasteful than replacing the full heater.

Old heater workes like new

I replaced my old patio heater burner with this part in less than one hour. The pole connection from the old burner to the new one is not the same size. Save your original one and replace the one on this heater with the original. Also, to save time, I cut off the original regulator as this burner comes with one.

Works great

It took a little modification. The holes on the new head didn’t line up with the holes on the pole. But just drilled them out and it works like a charm.

Great product...BUT check your existing unit for retrofit needs first

UPDATE SEPT 2021: both units have failed at this point. The pilot on off valve is gummed up and ignition switch no longer sparking. Disappointing, waste of time and $. Time for new units. Original review: Overall very happy with this unit. It replaced a maxi heat unit that was 15 years old. I expected there would be some retrofitting to be done and it was principally in two areas. First the bottom mounting holes. My old unit had three this unit has four. So drilled three new holes in shaft. Second the heat shield holes didn’t line up with the existing heat shield. Buying a new one would have added $50 (for 3 piece shield which is cheesy) at which point the buy-new option vs fix becomes more attractive @$140-$160. So we removed the top plate from old burner unit to mark for drilling holes in new unit (new unit top is welded not screwed...however bottom of mesh screen is attached with screws which gives access for retrofit. Used old bolts to connect. Third...the old unit had a gas pipe in the riser pole (vs a hose like new unit). Removal was easy but the opening at bottom of riser pole was too small for regulator to fit down through so had to disconnect hose at top of new unit and then reattach. This work was all within our capabilities and existing tools available. And we have a second unit that will no doubt need replacement soon...so we will definitely go this route again. Hope the unit lasts 15 years like old one!! As for starting, I followed recommendations on other posts and it worked fine. Just takes a little more time than my old unit.

Excellent OEM replacement

This is the exact OEM burner unit for our 10 year old highland/garden sun natural gas 3 inch pole patio heater. Perfect fit, easy install. You’ll need the yellow gas fitting tape for the 3/8 hose connection. AZ Patio Heaters is a top notch company and I’ve been a loyal customer for at least 12 years. Best quality and best prices. Highly recommend

Some modification required. Had to swap components from the removed unit to fully function.

Shut off/control valve inop. Had to swap with off unit. Easy for me but I’m fairly mechanically inclined.

Some modification required but works perfectly.

The inner shipping carton was damaged which made me nervous upon receiving it, but the product was in perfect condition. Similar to other reviews, it took some modification to fit into my current pole but with some creativity, it is hooked up and works perfectly. Thank you to Jeff Sano’s review on getting it lit for the first time, the steps he lists worked for me.

Works fine, modified to fit

Took a chance as I knew it would not quite fit my post but I read a review from another poster and decided to use my existing adapter cup to connect to my post. That worked. Removed the one that came with it, replaced with my old part and now it fits my post. Easy fix. The hard part was getting access to and threading the hose. Once done I got it all hooked up and it works. Old deflector shield fits perfect. Still a little concerned about orange flames when I have it on high. I'll have to investigate that further. Happy with it so far though.

good quality, works great

works very well, no problems. it is made for a 2.5" pole as stated, I was able to adapt it to my smaller pole. You could also reuse the bottom mounting bracket from your old heater to fit your nonstandard pole as the upper part of the bracket was identical size (in my case).

complete unit

If you have a heater this unit just bolts on in place and hook up the hose and regulator , that comes with it BTW and you have a heater again. Super easy and as long as your base is in good condition you have a new heater for ⅓ the price of replacing it completely.

rebuilt my old one that needed a 45.00 part just a part but purchasing this complete unit its all new again fitted great added propane and the way it went.. five star
