these work well for people with small ear canals

These will not wear out. Eventually the get lost and need replaced, but can be easily washed and used over and over. I pair these with a larger model of reausable earplug also by howard leight and then let my employees choose the one that fits best. Most employees prefer the larger one, but for the significant minority that needs this size these are great. With foam plugs on size fits all, but with silicon you need to give choices. I prefer these for my employees, because no rolling required and they are easier to put in and remove, this means employees actually put them back in after taking them out. Even though these may have a lower NRR than cheaper foam plugs the fact that employees use these more easily probably saves more hearing. And really very few jobs actually need an NRR of over 20.
