Great paddle for what it is...a cheap, classic Hardbat racket.
For all of you not aware, official/sanctioned table tennis/ping pong had a split many many years ago, and the traditional game was effectively changed forever. The governing bodies decided to allow sponge backed high-tech rubber compounds on the racket which greatly affect one's ability to introduce spin on the ball. This, eventually, made the traditional paddles obsolete, and the game was forever changed into an 'arms race' of newer and higher-technology table tennis bats. In fact, the game got so fast and balls so hard to hit, that several years ago, the ping pong balls themselves were changed (size increased substantially) to 'slow down' their travel. Many Americans who've played in their basement, or at a rec center were probably not even aware of the change in the outside world...since most of them aren't buying special $50 - $200 sponge/sticky rubber paddles. Generally, they play with whatever set came with the table, or what you can buy locally...and this is generally traditional 'pips out' rubber paddles with no sponge. These are the classic thin, hard paddles with the small rubber nubs that most people think of as 'ping pong paddles'. A few years back now, there was a resurgence in interest in the 'traditional' game. The players call this traditional game, with the low-tech paddles, "Hardbat". Some people actually *want* to play Hardbat nowadays, as opposed to the current game of table tennis. This racket is a classic Hardbat racket. It is not intended, nor will it compete with a modern table-tennis racket. So, if you are wanting to play or compete in a sponge game...this will not be a racket for you. But, if you want a decently made, and very cheap commercially available Hardbat racket for fun playing in your basement...just like the classic game you remember...this one works great! In fact, this one is better quality than came in a 'set' we got a few years ago. The edges are smoother, and the overall fit and finish is better quality. Bottom line: if you want to play Hardbat, and are wanting a decent cheap paddle...I recommend this one. If you really want to upscale your paddle quality, the good ones available online start at about $60. Search the Web for "hardbat rackets"...there are several retailers selling the individual components (the wood bat, the various rubber coating options, etc) which then you assemble, or have assembled for you.

This is a great table tennis paddle.
This is a tremendous price on a table tennis paddle. It was shipped promptly and the size is not a minature which sometimes happens when you are ordering online.

Not what I expected
Cheap, thin...very disappointing. Too lightweight to be an effective paddle. Wood used was untreated wood with splinters. Rubber surfaces were made of a cheap thin rubber that did not attach well to paddle.
