Works Well - Not Room Darkening

We needed something that would keep out the afternoon sun in a west facing room with many windows, and that could be hidden behind the wood blinds that we have up. They do most of what we purchased them for, but they definitely let in light on the sides, as seen in the picture. They roll well, go up and down just fine, and they are small enough to hide behind my other blinds when not in use. One of the blinds came with a large wrinkle, but I thought that the heat from the sun would take it out - it's still there, but it doesn't really bother me too much. Ultimately, they are good blinds - they went up easily, they work well, they were received in a timely manner, and they keep out the majority of the light and heat in the afternoon.

Pretty good considering initial issues

I ordered the wider size, 55inches wide. The shade arrived noticeably bowed. I considered returning but held off. This did mean that I had to mount it with more space between the shade and the frame. I had maintained old attachments so I was able to do that. In the beginning, the shade was very noisy and "rickety" when extending our rolling up. I have used for several months now and it has settled down with it's uneven travel. It looks so much better than my old shade I will say that I am happy with it for now. The company needs to really support those long shipping boxes because UPS and USPS and FedEx are merciless when they carry anything.

Thick enough but curls

these are thick enough to block light but the aren't thick enough to not curl inward on the sides. I'm glad I have installed them on the outside so I have enough room for curl and it doesn't let in light. For the price though, pretty nice. easy to install

Easy to Customize

A good weight and thickness and very easy to get a perfect width on this shade. I never even unrolled it, just popped off the correct end, snipped the vinyl at the correct spot and unwound the excess. I had old hardware already up and the shade fit right in. I'm very happy with this purchase .

Easy roll up and down

Price Is Right

I needed a 16 inch blind for bay window. Custom are way to expensive! This blind can be made more narrow. It's narrowest width is about 14 inches, but will you be satisfied? I have an hourglass shape on the blind. I don't mind, at least I can cover the window for a lot less than $75.00 I used a pipe cutter, metal file and scissors. There are 2 metal tubes inside. The one designed to cut is thinner metal. The other tube is about 20 inches long and thicker metal. That is what I cut. I had to file the inner tub to get the plastic mounting insert back. It wasn't hard. Overall I'm pleased with it, especially knowing that it the width can be reduced to 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21 inches as well.

Flimsy

I'm actually surprised at the overall higher rating for this roller shade. The material seems okay on the roll, but when you get it installed on the wall, you find that it isn't as thick as a room darkening shade probably should be. Additionally, the spring tension is very weak; it's a game to pull the shade just right so it knows to go up and even then, it doesn't go up all the way. I did not have to trim these shades prior to install. The kit did include the shade bracket and two screws, but no anchors for the screws. A product that will most probably get used a couple of times a day in any home will most likely need anchors prior to installing the brackets; I supplied my own to solve that problem. Now that they are up, I am going to keep them to avoid any return hassle. But from this experience, I will shop for a product that may cost a bit more, but function a bit better than these when replacement is required. And based on current function, replacement appears to be right around the corner. My suggestion would be to pass on these unless you are just installing them in a spare room where the shades may not be operated all of the time.

Not sure if I’ll buy again

First one I receive took a few minutes to install works great. Trimming wasn’t too hard. Received the other one I ordered a few days later had a big dent in the centre of the metal tubing must of happened in shipping. I ended up cutting off part of the tubing and making it work.
