Can't go wrong for the $.

It's a bike lock and it works. I bought this for my 12 year old daughter and she uses it everyday. It's kind of cheaply made like most locks today but it was only $8. Will it stop a professional thief? Absolutely not. Speaking as a 20 year fireman and a pro at having to break into things, this lock will easily be defeated in about 10 seconds so if you have an expensive bike, I'd buy something better. But this will deter most high school kids and passers-by which is what I bought it for. Just a heads up, you cannot change the preset lock combination on these either.

Good deterrent for accessories but not recommended to lock a bike.

I would not recommended this lock to secure your Bicycle, but I use it as a deterrent to protect accessories such as a Bicycle Saddle with Quick Release, an Helmet, a Bicycle Cargo Rack or Basket... who could otherwise been stolen in a blink of an eye when unattended, even for few minutes. The outer diameter of the lock is small so you can pass it under a bike saddle holder, a vent of a bicycle helmet, or basket carrier. I would not left accessories, such a helmet, attached overnight with this lock, but could be sufficient to protect your gear during the day, just the time you have to go to the post office, the library, or doing some quick shopping.

Okay for the money, a few limitations

Not bad for the price. Works as a deterrent against lazy thieves (but a professional thief will laugh at it). Two limitations. First, you cannot set your own combination, so you need to remember the one it comes with. Second, as some reviewers have mentioned, the digits only go from 1 to 6. So, for those of you who care about the maximum number of possibilities for a 4 place combination, it’s much less than at first glance. Finally, as one would expect based on the price, it isn’t a smooth, precision-made device. The number selection is clunky and a little loose. Not problem for a quick and cheap solution, but keep your expectations moderate.

Not able to set your own combination

The 2 options given for this product are "4ft set your own" and "6ft set your own". I don't know what "set your own" refers to but it's not "set your own combination" (as I assumed). The lock itself and cable seem sturdy enough but I never used it since I wasn't able to set my own combination. Guess that's whay I get for not reading the questions and answers section.

I ordered this Master Lock for my grandsons new bicycle and he loves it. Master lock makes it so easy to remember your passcode. They have a “vault” to keep your passcode accessible & safe! Well done, Master lock!!

Good to keep on the bike, can be tough to wrangle

Great to leave on the bike so its super convenient to leave on, so its always there - which is a big plus. It really likes to keep its coiled shape, so you need to wrestle with it as you're trying to lock up two bikes / scooters to a pole.

Well made, coiled cable is stiff.

The lock is used when our canoe is on the roof rack of our pickup truck. It is intended to make it harder to steal the canoe off of the truck when we overnight at a motel or stop at a store when traveling. The lock mechanism works well and the combo can be reset; nice feature. The cable is heavily coiled and can be difficult to straighten and work through confined spaces especially in the dark and in cold weather. I hung the cable out in the warm sun with a LOT of weight on it to undo some of the coiling.

Arrive on time and easy to reset code

It’s worth for the money it does its job, arrived on time and easy to follow instructions how to set your desired passcode, as of today I gave it 5 stars as it is doing great, I might update reviews if any changes occurs.

Broke after 6 months

I really liked this lock. I could set the combination, it was heavy weight enough to discourage uncommitted thieves, and it could stretch to lock wheels and frame to most fixtures. However, out of nowhere the locking mechanism suddenly failed, unable to either lock or set a new combination. The ring assembly loosened such that it seems to always be in "set" mode. Perhaps these settable locks have a more fragile mechanism.
