great for learning the world map

My children 3 and 4 learned their continents and many of the countries in the world!

Brightly colored world map

The colors on this map are bold and bright and the animals placed near their home countries are realistic and provide even more learning outside the geography of the world. The pieces are sturdy and the printed portion does not seem like it will peel off with normal classroom or home use. As stated by other reviewers, many interior pieces have curves rather than the traditional interlocking style but my preschool grandson was not frustrated and quickly learned the more pieces he placed correctly, the tighter everything fit. The map is not to scale, but if South America and Africa had been placed as far apart as they really are, this puzzle would have been far too big and with lots of empty ocean between them. For the target age group, the distance accuracy is probably not necessary.

Amazing puzzle

Even the adults wanted to put it together. It was new, but there were cut marks on the puzzle box from someone not being careful before mailing it to me.

Pieces aren't interlocking, which frustrated our toddler

Our puzzle-loving toddler was frustrated that while assembling this puzzle it was easy to knock pieces out of alignment because they don't interlock. I thought it was cool that the continent of Africa or of South America are each one piece but it turned out to be a design choice that he's not enjoying. He usually loves big floor puzzles and this one is a good quality, I just didn't know or read closely enough that the pieces don't interlock or are not uniform sizes like many other puzzles.

The box should have had the whole map fitted on it

My 3 year loves puzzles. Got it for him and although he loves it he gets frustrated as the covering box does not have the whole picture on the top. He looks at the whole picture to complete the puzzle but it does not help that the picture is not complete . A complete picture is on the side of the box, inconvenient for kids to look at. It misses a star there.

Okay Puzzle

I like the picture of the puzzle and the sturdiness of the pieces. The pieces are big for small hands. Only downside is the pieces aren't regular puzzle piece shaped. They're curved and rounded in odd shapes and can be a bit confusing for little ones at first.

Disappointed

The pieces don’t fit/lock together well so they’re constantly shifting. Hard for little people to build. Disappointing for a Melissa and Doug product.

Difficult children's puzzle

This puzzle would be fantastic if the inner pieces snapped together rather than just lying in the space. The border does snap together, so that helps. It's a bit frustrating for our 3 year old grandchild to have the inner pieces move around after they've been placed, as he's trying to finish the puzzle. It does say for 6+ years old, so perhaps older children wouldn't be bothered by this feature. Otherwise, the puzzle itself is vibrant in colour and educational.

It's very nice.. my 32 month old daughter enjoys doing it although with a little help..the puzzle pieces are easy to handle y toddlers

Learning continent names in a fun way

My 5 year old likes it a lot. Measures almost 2 x 3 feet and is beautifully pictured. Does not have interlocking pieces but that does not lessen the enjoyment of putting it in place.
