Great Around the Campsite

I own 5-6 of these types of lanterns from MPOWERD and really enjoy them. If you're looking at buying one, I think the biggest decision for you is if you have the patience for it to charge via sunlight or if you prefer having the option to charge electrically as well. This one is solar only, but they do have other models with electric AND solar charging options. For this model, I typically like to tie a ridgeline when camping and hang a few and let them rotate colors. It's just a fun, quirky addition to my campsite. I also keep one tied to my camp chair just to have some low ambient light that doesn't blind my campmates like a headlamp does. The runtime on these is really good, 8-12 hours, but understandably they do tend to dim over time. The brightness isn't great on these, but I think that's by design. It can easily light a tent, and it's a little dark but you can also cook by it (just don't let it melt lol). You can also throw them on your backpack/bike if you want some safety visibility but don't want to intrude on your camping neighbors. I do like the "red light" option for maintaining night vision when you just are quickly grabbing something from the tent or cooler. The charge time is decent, but solar is solar and does take time and the right conditions. I feel like they hold a charge very well when not in use -- but I also make a point of getting them out every few months and making sure they are charged for emergencies. I live in Oklahoma, and during tornado and winter seasons our electric grid is less than reliable. It's nice to have these around the house and not having to burn flashlight batteries for basic, sustained visibility. The material is sturdy, but I would advise not completely inflating them - other reviewers have mentioned that they have had some puncture/seam tearing problems when over inflated. Leaving them a little "soft" doesn't tend to hurt the light distribution, from my experience. Highly recommend.

Love the light color options

Just received this lamp and I like the color options. I mainly bought it for the red light due to camping in black out zones. This is not their brightest light that Luci offers...its cover is muted with a sparkle finish which I like. I can use it in my tent and not be overwhelmed by a bright light. I gave the lightweight rating a 3 bc its a bit high for backpacking as I am an ultralight backpacker. But will use on short overnight trips. I like it enough to order another one and the sale price is great.

Fun

Fun for entertaining or creating ambiance. It takes all day to charge via the small solar panel so I’d like future versions to have a plug in charger - not a deal breaker though.

Luci Solar Light Provided Great Ambiance

My three Luci Solar Lights arrived in a package with another product and were securely packaged and in good condition. The lanterns put out great light and it is very easy to cycle through the colors. These three lights were used primarily for ambiance at our 4th of July gathering along with some outdoor Addilon lights. The lanterns received many positive comments from our guests. I would prefer a snap together handle as on the Luci single color light because that makes the lanterns easier to handle. I purchased some snap-on clips from the local hardware store to put on the line hold the lanterns. The snaps then held the lanterns aloft. All in all, a very good purchase!

The Luci lanterns are expensive, but they're worth every penny

The Luci light is a fantastic, and the new models are even better because they come with a button that lets you check the amount of battery life left (indicated by the 3 small LEDs on the top). These charge up quickly in moderate sunlight, and the batteries seems good about having a low drainage rate. I have a few of these now. They put out of a surprising amount of light. This is more than enough to light up a tent or even a small pavilion. I put one of the Luci lights under a 20x30 tarp with 8 friends under it, and we had more than enough light to socialize and even play some cards. The alternating colors are nice, although not really necessary for most uses. I get the Luci Color because my kids love being able to choice different color. If you just want to use the Luci for ambient lighting (like on a patio, a tent, or as an emergency house light), you can get the Luci Lux and save yourself a few bucks. If you just want an emergency light, you should consider getting the non-diffused model. The very first one of these that I had sprung a leak at some point (not really sure how, I just inflated it one day and it deflated itself). I easily found the hole and covered with some clear repair tape, and it's worked perfectly since. My kids even cracks the plastic sheet on one end--not the end with the solar panel--and it still seems to hold its shape and work well. These are great little products for providing light. Yeah, they're more expensive than other ambient light systems, but you get an amazing amount of versatility (great for camping or hiking, pretty enough for your patio party, durable enough to use as emergency light if the power goes out, and they even float!) and you don't have to worry about batteries filling up landfills. Highly recommend!

We live 2 blocks from the ocean in a hurricane prone area. We own several of these. No replacing batteries, no open flame, no heat. Plenty of light and battery life to get through evenings.

Bright for a solar powered light

We are very happy with these lights, they look awesome at night. They are a bit expensive for what they are, so I really hope they last. Very cool though!
