Perfect!

I chose this color so it would be easy for me to find and film my son while he was surfing. This is the 2nd rashguard I bought for him as he outgrow the first one.

Order a size up

Order one size up. I understand these shirts should be "snug". The issue is: the shirt must actually FIT. The sizing is wrong, as I suspected. My son is slim and small for his age, but growing. I ordered a size larger than what he wears, thinking it would be ok if the shirt was too large, since this summer he will probably grow into a bigger size. I am glad I did, as the shirt would have actually been too small if I had ordered his current "correct" size. It fits him now, with no room to grow. I will keep it, but he won't get a lot of wear from it.

runs very short, good quality

I wanted to buy my son, who is about to turn 12, a newer and bigger rash guard. He’s average height and slim build. Maybe 80 lbs. the material felt nice and stretchy, like it would be comfortable. the neckline didn’t seem suffocating like a lot of rash guards are. I ordered neon green size 14 hoping he would have room to grow. It was VERY short...so I exchanged for a white sized 16...essentially fit exactly like the 14, they run extremely short. I added photo comparisons from my sons current rash guard that runs a little longer, white sharks sized M (8), and also a grey adidas performance shirt size L (10). As you can see, these O’neill rash guards run very short. But it was not too tight in width, only length. I’m surprised that other reviews did not mentioned how short these run. The quality was nice, I wish they had fit.

runs small

the only reason I gave this 4 stars is that it runs small. It has a very slim fit, which is fine for my tall skinny boy, but it looks a tad short on him and I had already sized up. good quality, it will last, but sadly he will outgrow it well before it has gotten its use.

Fit is Similar to Under Armour Youth Fitted, Great Shirt for the Pool

Great thing about swim shirts is their UV protection, bad thing is they are meant to be fairly closely fitted - which my son doesn't particularly care for. However, this shirt seems to mostly fit the bill. Ordered a size 16, he is an average build 5' 4" 115lbs who wears size 16 in most clothing brands, those who are familiar with the Under Armour youth fitted clothes will notice the fit of this shirt is very similar. The sleeves and lower part of the shirt are close to the skin but still slightly loose as expected especially given the "slim fit" nature, the tightest part of the shirt for my son is right at the chest area - so maybe slight small but still manageable. Overall it is a great product.

Good quality swim shirt

Bought size 14 for my son (size 12) that didn't want it skin tight. He states it is comfortable. I do notice that the white does not stay white but I believe that is because of our chlorinated pool.

Great quality!

I discovered O'Neill swim shirts this year and my son loves them--we now own three in different colors! I was hesitant to buy the first one due to price, but these are amazing quality and worth every penny. My son is a little bit insecure about a small amount of extra weight he carries through the middle and these shirts are perfect for him because they are just loose enough to camouflage his midsection but tight enough to look like a swim shirt and not an everyday shirt.
