Finally, relief for my fly bitten mare!

My Standardbred was getting eaten alive by horse flies, her shoulders and neck were bloodied, fly spray did not work. Perri's mane hood was exactly what I needed, she finally has relief. This is a mesh material, not a lycra, so it is appropriate for hot, humid weather. I highly recommend this hood, HOWEVER, they seem to run small. My horse is 15.3H and 1000 lbs, and size large fits her perfectly, except the Velcro straps are too long, which is an easy fix.. UPDATE: As much as I like this product, it will not stand up to 24/7 turnout. I purchased another one, so I can repair the small tears as needed and have a replacement. I still think if your horse is seriously affected by insect bites, it is worth the money.

Good against sweet itch, maybe best protection.

Madam hates this horsesock. However, I think we got our sweet itch down thanks to this. This is cooler than flysheet, which is critical in summer. I will buy another one to be able to do the repair and wash. Size large fit on my half spanish 3year old , would not go size down. I pair with flymask. Now I need same for her butt, scratched herself to blood

Awesome hood for extra bug protection

Very happy with this hood. The material is different than I expected, but in a good way. Seems cooler and more breatheable than regular Lycra. I bought this for my Rocky Mountain horse who suffers terribly from no-see-mud and sweet itch, as a result. I have a combo fly sheet over his hood and his neck is always protected, plus helps keep his mane from being rubbed. Also works fine with a fly mask. He is 15 hands and I ordered a medium. Very happy with the overall fit.

It does what it says and is good quality.

I bought this product because my horse is allergic to fly bites and loses all his hair if he isn't covered. The neck portion of my fly sheet just doesn't do it. I ordered this in hopes it would protect him without overheating him and it does just that. I like the fact it zips and velcros so that it is easy to put on and take off. I am very pleased with this product and will buy another one for my other horse.

Fits great. Doesn't rub his eyes. Has held up well so far. I owned it about a month. It is cooler then the solid lycra and hold manes down well.

DEFECTIVE ZIPPER! I would like a replacement!

This mane hood w/ full zipper is a great idea. HOWEVER, the zipper SEPARATED after only 4 uses!!! I had to cut the bottom of the zipper because it would no longer zip back down to get it off.
